I'm pretty sure it's the fact that Harden is injured every 3 seconds is what scared him away from Gillick. Not that it's right, but that's probably what did it.

So, basically, the Cubs got a guy who's hurt more often than not, yet still with the potential to win 20 if he ever figures out how to stay healthy?

I'm sure Gillick will wow us with yet another bargain basement castoff, though.  Which is nice.

No doubt, which is why the Cubs did not give up a shtein load. And all the more reason Gillick should have been balls to the wall on him. Take a shot.

I suspect that one of two things is happening;

1. Amaro already has the keys to the car. Monty has told Gillick to chill because he doesn't want him going over budget and/or trading away the farm to win now since it is his last year and he may want to do that.

2. Gillick has targeted Bedard.

to actually defend these icehole owners, they went over-budget last year. they were over $100 mil when all was said and done. this year they are on pace to break attendance records and make even more money, so you would assume that they can spend some more shekels. but of course, they could just be acting like cheap dickfaces.

no, silly. the point was last year they went "over budget," which is something i dont think the phillies have ever done ever. so when that white trash guy from texas said they were being cheap, i pointed out that that wasnt quite the case last year, but could be the case this year because this organization sucks.
