Father Demon

You're just a little off on this Dio - the Busch family isn't choosing to sell out, they are (potentially) being acquired by another company, and they don't have the means to stop it.  The family only owns <4% of the company stock, so they alone can't stop the sale.  The board doesn't own a majority, so even if it says "We're not selling" InBev can still buy a majority of the company by turning to the public and saying "Give me your shares."

Now, you have a point about the irony of this deal.  AB is an iconic American brand, and wants to stay loyal to the patriotism and ideals of being an American company.  They are proud that it bears the family name, and don't want to sell out, effectively killing the family run business.  They are going on about remaining true to St. Louis, and how this is where it belongs.  Yet, the only way they can possibly not be sold is to buy the remaining 50% of Modello in Mexico that they don't own today, thereby making them too expensive for InBev.  But to do so, they need to buy a Mexican company, thereby removing the national heritage that Modello has.  Modello is also a multi-generational brand that still has deep family ties into the Modello family. And they also are very proud of where they came.  So, to save AB from all these non-American, non-Busch family things happening, they have to turn around and do the exact same thing to the Mexican company.  The irony runs very deep.

I'm not sure what it means, but on Friday the Modello CEO abruptly quit the AB Board of Directors (he had a place on AB's board, and August IV has a seat on Modello's board).  It could mean either a) he is quitting because he's pissed that the rest of his company might be purchased by AB, or b) he is quitting to help the sale go through without a conflict of interest.

Maaaan, my bro' in law used to work on the water full time, now just does it on weekends for extra cash and affordable seafood. At least once a year, he hooks me up with a couple dozen hand picked crabs. I'm telling ya', these babies are packed with meat and fat as anything. I've picked almost all of them and already have at least two pounds of meat, not counting claws.

There will be crab cakes.  :drool

according to the Baltimore Sun, shoremen are reporting strong catches up and down the bay.  they're season is being truncated by two months though, because scientific counts show the populations is at its lowest level in something like forever/40 years

Haven't read the Sun, but the locals are doing well, enough so that the price just got cut from $120 to $100 a bushel, and further south from me in Cambridge they are down to $80.

The thing is in my area around Kent Island, the crabs are big and fat. No trash crabs.

If not for the booming population of skate the harvest would be even better. But like Dio says, it won't last long because the overall population of crabs is down.

There are a lot of crabs coming in from the Carolinas because the demand for them is so great around here that the local waterman can't catch enough. Haven't heard of any coming from New Orleans, but I know that sometimes they do.

Don Imus is at  it again. More or less saying Pacman acts like he does because he's black.

I can't stand that prick Imus, and I hope this finally gets his ass off the air for good. He never should have gotten' a job after his comments about the Rutgers girls team. Farging racist piece of shtein.

I'm not defending Jones, but he isn't the way he is because of his color. He's just an icehole pervert who can't stay outta' strip clubs and likes to beat women.

There you go.  Now you know.

Alright now, 'cept we already knew about that fargface bitch. I guess he doesn't take into consideration that most players in the NFL don't act like Jones, be they white or black.

Imus should be caned.

Rome

"What color is he?"

"He's African American."

"Okay, now we know."

Um, what part of that exchange was racist?  Did he call Jones a stillupfront?  Did he say he was a thug punk ass scumbag because he's black?  No.

You can read into it anything you want but he didn't utter a racist word nor did he say Jones did what he did because of the color of his skin.

BTW: More racist and bigoted bullshtein is posted on this board on a daily basis than those comments.  I'm not saying I don't participate in doing so, especially where gays are concerned, but the sanctimony in here is just too insufferable to believe at times.

i don't care about imus or what he says, but he most definitely was insinuating that pacman is always in trouble because he's black.
