McCain's scared is what it is. Obama turning down the funds means there's no spending limits for his side. The Obama machine has shattered all records for fund raising and the GOP knows it. They're scared because they know they can't keep up with him.

Well, it's simple.  Obama had previously said he'd use the funds.

Again, I don't see the fire, but his camp DID go back on their previous stance.

Taken in its most literal interpretation, yes, he backed out of a previous statement. But that is shaky ground at best to stand on.

clearly a mistake by obama but campaign finance is so far down the list of things that are important to americans that it shouldnt have an traction


and the more important part of this is that he will still not take money from lobbyists or pacs and he has vowed to not allow any 527 groups to make ad's attacking mccain...of course that isnt fully in his control but he did just get moveon which was one of he biggest 527s in the country to give up its status as such

That article I read on CNN said that most people polled don't think that people should finance political campaigns. While I don't have a problem with it, there's no way that this will have any lasting negative impact on Obama.

most people shouldnt be for it...i actually think it doesnt get enough attention...its a really serious issue imo

but with obamas incredible small donor and internet machine he coudlnt not do this without really hurting his chances to win and if he doesnt win then he doesnt get a chance to really change the system

McCain complaining that Obama has changed his position on the matter makes him look like a whining loser.  No one for one second believes McCain would stick to public financing if he stood to gain more money by opting out of it.
