Do a line or two before you go and you'll be able to eat right through the shells.

The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

QuoteFirst of all, the reason that african americans dominate sports, is because of genetic reasons. People with heritage from certain parts in Africa are IN GENERAL more athletic, therefore it is quite logical, that people with this heritage are overly represented in certain types of sports. When it comes to coaching, this advantage has no meaning, as the fact that you are athletic does not mean that you will succeed as a coach. Even the fact that more african americans succeed on the athletic level of a sport, gives them no advantage in the fields of coaching, and if you look at coaches in the NBA or the NFL, its not that often that they are former superstars. Last season, the NBA had Mo Cheeks, Doc Rivers, Mike Brown, Isiah Thomas, Byron Scott, Sam Mitchell, Nate McMillan, Eddie Jordan, Avery Johnson and Reggie Theus. That is 10 out of the 30, a higher ratio as african americans in society in general.

Because, IN GENERAL, succesful african american basketball players are ON AVERAGE less intelligent than equally succesful caucasian basketball players. For a person that is genetically athletically gifted, it requires less mental effort to reach a certain level, than for a person that is not similarly gifted. Therefore, the fact that you find more african americans in the NBA, does not mean you will find the same ratio in basketball in general. Because of the genetic advantage, more african americans make it professionally, while less caucasians make it. This doesnt mean that the ratio of people playing basketball in the US, is the one that is in the NBA! And it does not require you to be a superstar basketball player, to become a succesful coach, as has been shown over and over again. You can be a former backup point guard for the university of Alaska, that played professionally in Sweden or something, and still have a high basketball IQ thats required for coaching, even though you lack the athletic capabilities of playing at a higher level.
So dont look at the ratio of blacks and whites in the NBA and scream "racism", if you dont find the same ratio in the coaching department, as that is the wrong ratio you are looking at.

However, in the case of the executives, it is certainly about racism, but its more about the effects of "past racism" than the case of white people currently trying to keep equally capable african americans out of the jobs. You have to remember, that it hasnt been that long, since african americans were given equal rights, and people dont amass vast amounts of wealth that quickly, that are required for being a team owner etc. Most african americans started from absolutely nothing, once they were allowed to take part in society in full, so it is not surprising, that there are fewer african american business tycoons etc. In the case of executives and owners, it will just take time, but i dont believe it is a case of current white people actively keeping equally capable black people out of jobs.

And yes, racism is alive and kicking, but you have to look at the whole picture before making assumptions about the degree of racism in question. And in the case of the NBA, with yet another black head coaching success story yesterday, i find it hard to believe that a GM would overlook a coaching candidate because of his darker skin pigmentation.

this was a post made by someone on another board i go to...it really is mind blowing
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I like the capitalization of IN GENERAL and ON AVERAGE he offers as proof that his opinions are not racial.  Without those, I would have thought that it was just some hoosier spouting off, but I can clearly see that these opinions are quite educationally formulated.

One thing I hate about going to A.C. is the New Yawkers. God, that accent alone is like nails on a chalkboard. But the Borgata environment calms me down, so at least I can stand it.
