I'm not going to get too deep into this since I already said that the UN should be in charge of whatever happens there, but I will say that if Dio promises to protect me from the dangerous illiegal aliens I will vote for him.

I'm not kidding about that.  We need to put an end to the occupation of Iraq asap.  Those who talk of our responsibility to stay are selling the same line of shtein as Bush is, and was when he invaded.  It wasn't our responsibility to invade and it's not our duty to stay.  We had no problem saying "farg 'em" when we went in, and whether we stay for McCain's 100 years or step the farg out tomorrow like I want, they're farged every way.

Might as well speed the process.  Commit to help financially and give up this arrogant attitude that we are in charge and know what's best for them.  We should pay dearly in money for another ten years or so, but after that farg it, accept eternal shame and damnation for the horror we made just like Germany, and move the farg on. 

We should be spending our money on our own infrastructure, our own poverty, our own intellectual and industrial capacity.  We should once and for all be done with nation building anywhere but here.

I do think that we have some responsibility to them since we have (twice) swept in and waged war on their turf. I agree that this is the UN's job, but to relinquish all responsibility is childish. Lose the military focus and presense except where the UN deems it necessary. Increase infrastructure projects.

A multi-national effort would have a better chance of success than the U.S. going alone.  Perhaps the UN will be ready to work with the next President more than they currently are with Bush.

The UN would make a bigger mess of that place then we are.

I disagree that the U.N. is worse than Bush but lets grant your claim for the sake of argument.  Now then, I ask...so what??  The point of handing affairs over to them would note be to make sure it's handled better, just that it's handled by someone else.  The whole world hates the U.S. for what it's done there and so it would be a good idea to let them take over...tell them okay, we agree, we've farged it up.  Now it's yours to administer, and since we farged it up, we'll make heavy financial contributions for x period of time to support your efforts.

If they farg it up even worse, so be it.  At least the U.S. will have stopped hemmoraging world respect (not to mention U.S. blood) and we can move on.
