I cannot think of a position on either side of the ball that's success is less dependent on scheme than DE.
All you do is run at the QB. It has got to be the most individual position on the field, just you vs an OT.
Even DT's work togheter more and have more schemes and stunts.

Well, he occasionally had to drop back into the zone or line up at "joker"... but Johnson would have kept him bringing it from the edge if he was actually productive in that way.

he definitely deserves the majority of the blame, but i blame the Eagles too.  they played him in the stupid joker too much where he was dropping back into coverage.  he's a pass rushing specialist and you have him covering backs and tight ends?  stupid.

Just read that Eckel article.  Didn't realize that Roy Williams is a UFA after this season.  You know the Eagle's FO's line of thinking is why give up players now when they could POSSIBLY get him without expending anyone after the season.
