whats this shtein i heard on 610 this morning that McNabbs hurt already and was held out of drills yesterday because he reached his "throwing total". plus Cataldi said he's been spotted numerous time walking around like his arm is very sore.

That's just WIP reaching for a story again:

Donovan McNabb, who apparently was on a minicamp pitch count, sat out the final practice. There was no indication of a problem . . .

Jesus, I hate Cataldi.

Someone just go Eight Belles on him already.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

ed snider was on DNL and the guy asked him something like why all the negativity in this city?  and he said something like , "we're the only city that has WIP"

DNL is better than WIP, but half the people on there look like the golden girls and cartoon characters.  then sal pal comes on and starts going "ah ah ah I DON'T SEE..." and john smallwood starts crying then stan hochman dies
Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No pro bowl WR's.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Retarded special teams.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  "I've got to do a better job."  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Running game shines for 3 plays. Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No adjustments anywhere.  Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  (repeat)

I can just imagine Angelo gettin all fired up about it. Then Rhea would chime in with her garbage. Then they'd probably have Sal Pal come on and in his ominous voice he'd confirm it through multiple sources inside the Novacare Complex. Then they'd have Spads on and he'd deny it and they'd rip him.

Jokers.

I would take a flyer...

Not sure why......he's a talented but horribly inconsistant receiver and the Eagles have plenty of them as it is.  His best attribute is in the return game but I think the Eagles are secure there with Jackson now.

I think the Eagles have plenty of consistently mediocre recievers. I could do with a flash of talent now and then, just to break the monotony.
Plus it would be for the vet minimum, which is almost free.

QuoteEagles must pile it on to get to top of heap

There's a story that has made the rounds from Super Bowl XV, the Eagles' first trip to the Big Game, in New Orleans back in 1981. Then owner Leonard Tose wanted to entertain several friends at one of the Big Easy's better restaurants for brunch the afternoon of the game.

Tose sent one of his right-hand men into the restaurant to get reservations for the rather large party. Told by the host that the restaurant was completely booked the entire day, and there was nothing he could do, Tose's man explained it was for the owner of the Eagles.

It didn't matter, the host said, there really was nothing he could do.

Until Tose's guy started placing $100 bills one by one on the counter, when the pile got high enough, the host finally gave in and said, "Tell, Mr. Tose to have his party here by noon."

Why is this story relevant 27 years later?

The Eagles need to apply the same strategy to get the missing piece to its offense, namely a big- play wide receiver.

If the team's supposed interest in Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald was sincere, it's no secret it feels it needs a more viable threat in the passing game than what is on the current roster.

Forget Chad Johnson. The Bengals are playing hardball with him and are not going to deal him and he may be as much trouble as he is worth, and he's worth plenty.

Detroit's Roy Williams should be the target. His quotes this past week in which he admitted he thought he was going to be traded before, or during, the draft, speaks volumes.

After an uninspiring, one eye on the future draft, going after Williams and not letting him go to Dallas, who is also supposedly very interested, would be the blockbuster, go for it, all in move the Eagles need to restore some optimism to their fanbase not to mention their soon-to-be 32-year-old quarterback and a 29-year-old running back who want to win now.

The Lions, like the Bengals, have said they won't trade Williams, who is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent going into the 2009 season. The Eagles, however, need to make Detroit an offer the Lions simply cannot refuse.

There is certainly ammunition, with that extra first-round pick from Carolina, an extra fifth-round pick from Cleveland, and of course cornerback Lito Sheppard, who played perfect soldier last week at the mini-camp. There are also other players who could be packaged as well.

One veteran, who will remain nameless at this time, told me last week his agent told him he could be part of a trade package with Sheppard. So something could still be in the works.

You can only hope it's for a wide receiver and that the receiver is Williams (you could settle for Arizona's Anquan Bolden, but I want Williams).

The Eagles need to act like Tose's man did back at that Super Bowl. Call the Lions and start with Sheppard and a No. 1 pick for Williams. If, and when, they refuse, start adding picks and players until the pile gets so high, the Lions can't say no. Maybe they can even get Matt Millen to throw them back a corner, like Keith Smith, in the deal.

Detroit got help for its front seven on defense and its offensive line in the draft, but could certainly use a player such as Sheppard for the secondary. Lions head coach Rod Marinelli is from the Tampa Bay system and Sheppard could do for his defense what Ronde Barber did for the Bucs all those years.

Maybe running backs Tony Hunt or Ryan Moats, two very expendable Eagles, would interest the Lions. Put either one on the pile. Throw in wide receiver and former University of Michigan player Jason Avant, who could possibly be welcomed back. Offer wide receiver Reggie Brown, who is 11 months older than Williams, if need be.

Don't stop -- an extra mid-round pick next year, a pick in 2009 -- whatever it takes to get the 26-year-old game-breaking receiver in return.

While I actually agree with what he is saying, there is no chance any of that happens.  Got to love the nameless player reference.

Trading Roy to the Eagles makes sense, but this is the Lions so that means they will probably keep. Apparently they think the way to fix their defense is to sign over the hill veterans.

Kearse blames Eagles for piss poor play again.

Quote
At Titans camp this weekend, Kearse seemed to put the blame for his failings on the Eagles' defensive scheme, rather than a decline in his ability brought on by age or injury, according to an interview with the Tennessean's Paul Kuharsky.
"I'm still the same player, but that scheme up in Philly was different," he said. "All I've got to say is proof is in the pudding, so I can't even talk about it. Just watch and see."

Farg Kearse, that mf took the money and ran. He was the most overpaid player on the team. No wonder the Eagles brass are afraid to dump money in FA, after Kearse the Hearse, (slow as), and friggen' TO. Players make plays no matter what system they are in. STFU and stop making excuses. The system didn't  cause him to get injured. He wants to rip JJ even though he was paid around three times more than his production warranted.
