1) there will always be a lower class, and a level of unemployed in this country

Duh, who is saying otherwise?

Quote2) Universal Healthcare is not going to happen. There is too much money tied into the insurance companies to even even begin to let an universal healthcare system take over.

The US spends more per capita on healthcare than countries which do have universal healthcare.  Still, have you not noticed that what is being proposed by both Clinton and Obama is subsidized coverage, not single payer?  The insurance companies are not going anywhere.

Quote3) The debate over global warming will not end, and there will always be environment damages done by every species on this planet. Your choice as an EARTH DWELLER is this. A) you pay less money, and waste more resources. or B) you pay a little more and extend the earths ability to sustain humans an extra 4 minutes.

C) you invest in technology that makes use of renewable forms of energy, and leverages the massive US agricultural machine which is currently being paid by the government to not produce.

Quote4) We have a lot of soldiers in the middle east. To just up and pull them all out now is not going to work, there are going to be US soldiers there for a while.

Oversimplify much?  There is no good reason for there to be any US troops in Iraq.  None.

Quote5) The economy will bounce back at some point, regardless of who is president.

While naive, it is possibly true...but how far will it have to fall before it turns around?  The US economic policy has been that as long as inflation outpaces the growth of our debt, we'll be fine.  Unfortunately, that mentality is no more sustainable than the dot-com bubble or the housing bubble.  The problem is that when this bubble bursts, it will affect everyone.

But don't take my word for it - wait until McCain has to start answering the tough questions.  He admits that he doesn't know much about the economy, and can't tell the difference between shiia and sunni...just the leader we need!

All the candidates are saying the same exact thing about troops in Iraq in different ways and none of the candidates will just start pulling out troops as soon as they're elected. There'd be a bigger blood bath then the invasion as all factions in Iraq stumble over themselves to fill the vacuum. Just pick your flavor of the same old crap for the next 4 years.

I really like some of Obama's ideas on government funding and special interests. I just don't see how his own party would back him on that stuff. None of them will put down the crack pipe any time soon.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Wow she said she'd take on Opec....

No, Obama's biggest problem is Florida.  That's the deal breaker in the polls vs. McCain right now.

What's interesting is that it is looking like Clinton would be the conservative choice - in a close race, she's carrying the polls where they count.  The problem is that she has a number of those states by only a slim margin (47 EV) while McCain's base is more stable (11EVs at risk).  (at risk means that the margin is less than 5%)

Against Obama, there are many more states in play.  While more of Obama's EVs are at risk than Hillary's (57 EVs), McCain has 99 EV's at risk.

I think we've seen what happens when we take the conservative choice for the Democratic party - close elections which are subject to either tampering or the error which is inherent in the process.  I think the Democrats need to go for the brass ring - the big win - rather than hoping it comes down to Florida or Ohio again.  Obama has a better shot at taking states from McCain than Clinton right now.

(based on this website, which puts the polls in the context of electoral votes)

Clinton Advisor: Indianans "shtein", "Worthless White N*rs"

At least Stephanapoulos has the decency to look embarrassed.

QuoteBill Clinton Campaign Chairman and Hillary Clinton '08 Advisor Mickey Kantor tells George Stephanapoulos and James Carville: "Look at Indiana...it doesn't matter if we win. Those people are shtein. How would you like to be a worthless white ni**er?"

Overheard someone talking about politics here at the office.

"Well I can't vote for Hillary or Obama because I'm Christian"
