I don't think people wear Papale Jerseys because they are trying to be "old school", I think they do because it is a great story.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

its actually neither...they did it because it was the in thing to do when the movie came out...in five years you wont see any papale jerseys...its no different than those retarded yellow and blue johnsons that came out this year

theres a group of people that are always gonna be sheep no matter what the popular thing is at the time
