vilma would be a dream but phillybc is exactly right....they love the linebackers now and arent going to upgrade

and i cant believe people are worrying about guard of all positions...other than rb it might be the starting position that least needs to be addressed...the eagles arent exactly known for being free agent spenders so why would anyone want them using their money on a faneca...outside of it being some minimal contract which it most certainly wont...plus dook has mad wear and tear on him and isnt the dominating player he was a few years ago and is only gonna get worse...furthermore if you want them to trade for a guy like fitzgerald its going to be much tougher if you have throw a ton of cash at faneca...and if im gonna lose out on a wr like that i dont want it to be for a guard

they should be doing everything in their power to get antwan odom at midnight next friday...other than that we all know where they should be looking for...secondary and wr...if your gonna spend money on a guard id rather throw it at westbrook and lito restructures

1. Sadly agree on them loving the LBs; ideally they would pick up Spikes' option because he was finally getting comfortable towards the end of last year and making plays. Let Bradley fight with your boy Gocong for SAM and I think Bradley wins that (Gocong then puts his hand down and backs up Cole) and Vilma is the new starting MLB with OG going to a nickel/STs role. But it will be Gocong/Bradley - Gaither - Spikes next year.

2. Disagree on the OL. Herremans was not very good last year. With Tra getting older, that left side needs to be stronger and they can do that by upgrading LG.

3. Agree on Odom. Agree on Westbrook and Lito restructuring, which they can do even with being active in FA.

i agree herremans had an off year but you cant upgrade five different positions in one offseason...and spending a ton of money to replace a LG who had a "not very good" year is not a priority this offseason when 1. you traded up to get a guard in the draft just two years ago and 2. the guy you wanna drop buckets of money on is like you said with tra "aging" (tho admittedly not as old)...to me faneca would be a last resort this offseason...someone you may go at if your top three or four things fall thru

if they can get odom and a wr and a s and a cb and a return man and restructure westbrook and get faneca then im all for it...i just cant see all those things or even half of them happening...and if i had to proritize then LG isnt even on my radar...especially and most importantly because you have a potential upgrade on your roster and already paid for

To be honest I'm fine with the LBs we have now also--that said, if you have the chance to get a player like Vilma, you do it.

I'd rather let MJG challenge Manneans than throw a ton of money at the OG position.  Manneans strikes me as an Artis Hicks type guy in that he isn't really your ideal day one starter, but he can provide quality depth anywhere on the OL.  NEEDS this offseason, as far as I can see it:

1. S  - One solid starter here, and he's not getting any younger.  Mikell had a nice year last year, but I like him more as an STs/depth guy.  We could do a lot worse with our first pick than Kenny Phillips.

2. DE - Need something resembling a pass rush opposite Cole.  I want to see the entire DE position other than Cole and Abiamiri overhauled through a combination of the draft and free agency.

3. CB - Lito and Sheldon are good but Lito can't stay healthy, and there's nothing at all behind them.  Hanson is probably OK as a dime back but we need a legitimate nickel back.

4. WR - We're one true #1 guy away from having one of the best WR corps in the league.  Get Fitz or Chad Johnson, or at the very least bring Stallworth back.

5. OT - Neither of our starters are exactly young.  They'll be fine in '08, but who knows going forward.  We have MAYBE one guy who can step into a starting role here in the future.  We need to take two guys at this position in the draft.

6. TE - My gut feeling is that we'll end up trading LJ.  If that's the case I wouldn't mind bringing in someone like Bubba Franks to battle Celek for the starting job if we can get him cheap.  Don't really want to use another draft pick here unless it's very late.  That said if we DO keep LJ, get rid of Schobel and replace him with a late draft pick/UDFA.

I never thought he was, but that article doesn't mean anything. Just leverage talk.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

QuoteRAIDERS SHOPPING MICHAEL HUFF by Michael David Smith

The Oakland Raiders are sniffing around to gauge interest in a potential trade involving safety Michael Huff, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT.

Huff, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, has started all 32 games of his NFL career and would be a solid addition to any team that needs help at safety. Like all Top 10 picks, however, Huff has a hefty contract that would be a factor in any trade.

As Jay Glazer of Fox reported early in the 2007 season (and as PFT noted at the time), the Raiders were calling teams in September and saying most of their defensive players, including Huff, were available via trade. After taking defensive backs in the first round of five of the last seven NFL drafts, the Raiders may feel that they've invested too many resources at that position.

The Raiders also reportedly believe Huff hasn't tapped his potential, so if there's a team out there that thinks it can tap Huff's potential, this is a trade that could make sense.

Make it happen. This would be a huge addition!!

5 first round db's in the last 7 drafts?  You'd think they were in the same division as the Lions or something.

Wow, imagine that talent being tutored under Dawk for a year or two. And I don't think the contract would be all that prohibitive - the Raiders would have to eat the SB portion and I'll bet the rest is pretty manageable, even if doing an extension. Anyone watch him much and know why he hasn't developed as hoped?

SunMo

that's who i really wanted in the 06 draft...it's just weird that they would want to trade him
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

PhillyPhreak54

they're the Raiders - stupid is a way of life in that organization.

He'd slide in nicely as the SS, obviously.

On another note, Marinelli apparently said today that Roy Williams (and Rogers) are available via trade.

Huff and Williams = nice dream, but please FO get at least one!

QuoteWith Asante Samuel ready to steal a Brinks truck next Friday, the Patriots are now in discussions with the Philadelphia Eagles about acquiring Lito Shepard in a trade.

Titans defensive end Antwan Odom is getting interest already from Oakland and Philadelphia...."
