1/2 a second @ f4, ISO 400 speed. Used my 70-200mm/f2.8 lens with a 1.4x multiplier on it.

only as half second, wow. i was thinking aa few seconds so you capture all the light, but i guess if you have a nice zoom lense it grabs it for you?

Yeah, the relatively fast lens helps, even though I shot a smaller than the largest apeture...and with the multiplier thing I effectively lose a stop, as well.

I wanted to keep the exposure relatively short, because the motion of the moon at any serious magnification requires it. To help it, I bumped the ISO up to 400, which introduced a tiny amount of noise. This camera is really good for limiting noise, though, so I felt pretty confident that it wouldn't degrade the shot.

The best thing would be a fixed/prime lens, maybe 500mm, because less glass is required. Then with the multiplier I could bump it up to 700mm...and really get some good stuff. But then again, a 500mm is pretty pretty salty.
