Lito's been all but useless the past three years.

Tito's has some issues staying healthy (only played/started all 16 games once his entire career - 2003), this is true.  But useless?  Come on, man.  11 ints in 3 years is hardly useless.  He's an excellent corner, who's physical and doesn't give up many big plays.  Hell, in something like his last 8 games vs Dallas he's got 8 interceptions and I believe 3 of them went for scores (not to mention the game saving) TD against them in 2006.

He's usually matched up against opponents #1 reciever and does a pretty good job shutting them down.  He's one of the few guys in the league that you can leave on and island, 1 on 1 vs most of the game's best recievers for 10 or so plays a game and be confidant that he won't give anything up.

The injury/health thing is a concern but plenty of guys go through a few years with injury during their careers and get over it.  Hell, look at Westbrook.  He's still young (27 in April) and solid corners of his caliber aren't that easy to come by.

They just said on NFL live that a source says the Eagles are shopping Lito Sheppard.

I can't say i'm extremely shocked, but still...when healthy he's been the only playmaker they've had. Maybe this means they'll go after Samuel?

the report said the eagles gave lito permission to shop around for a trade...not that the eagles are shopping lito.  probably just a technicality but it sounds more like lito wanting out than the eagles wanting him out.

Whatever the reason, they better have a good replacement plan namely Trufant or Samuel because despite his health issues, he is indeed a playmaker.

My guess is Tito wants more money. He ain't gettin' it from The National Bank of Banner so he wants out. Fine; get something good in return and sign a damn stud to replace him.

I've been sick of his ass for years now.  He's an excellent player when healthy, but he's never farging healthy.

PhillyPhreak54

If they play this right (don't get spiteful towards Tito for asking for cash) they can flip him into something good and get after one of the FA CB's.

But they had better be shopping him now so they can hit the FA market hard.

Because if they;

1. Trade him and replace him with a shteinbag
2. Trade him and draft a guy hoping he's good and if he sucks they're stuck with Joselio starting
3. Keep him to spite him and he's angry

They'd be stupid.

Not sure I buy this one. If they trade him they take a cap hit almost equal to his salary this year. Then who replaces him? If they get a FA who is any good,  they pay out more guaranteed money just after taking a cap hit from Lito's guaranteed $. They would have to get someone of good value in a trade, probably a player that doesn't want much, if anything in the way of a new contract for this to fly. Otherwise, it just doesn't sound like the FO's MO imo.

PhillyPhreak54

I think they would save 500K on the cap. Or take a 500K cap hit, either way its not too bad.

Rome

I don't understand how money can be a question for him.  He hasn't earned what he's been paid in the past three years as it is.  farging stupid jocks.

We should have awards for things like that. Nice one.

They would save 500K net, but they would still take about a $3 million cap hit, which I think the FO would take as bad. They net 500K, but you still have to figure in the salary of Lito's replacement to get the whole net effect at the position. It wouldn't be absolutely prohibitive, but I think you'd have to get something really good back in a trade.

Thanks! I spent a few days developing that one and voila

Lito is apparently pissed about his contract.  Why dont these idiots just say no when the contract is put out there rather than sign and bitch in 2 years.  Trade his ass to get picks to get Fitz, and pick up Asante Samuel
