I was actually going to be through being a taterskins fan whenever Gibbs left anyhow...I'm not sure if I'll be a fan again when in X years fargface is no longer the owner. Probably not.

Not that we needed any confirmation... but thanks for proving that you are the complete and total waste of life that we all thought you were.

Wouldn't that be a bitch.

I would assume that Santana Moss or Randle-El would have to go to Cincy in that deal.

But still that would suck.

I dont think so. They could keep both. Thrash, Lloyd and McCardell would be probably be gone. Washington can give up a 1st and 3rd or whatever draft day plan for Johnson. Then, they go on  their party of restructuring base salaries to bonuses to cover the cap

I just cant see Johnson being happy with Jason Campbell. He will bitch up a storm.

Well, so I guess you guys won. The taterskins are dead, literally and figuratively. Gibbs retired (or was fired). Their fargface owner has recommenced destroying the team by playing his fantasy football again. I was actually going to be through being a taterskins fan whenever Gibbs left anyhow, but my emotional divorce from the team allows me to to put everything Snyder has done, and is surely doing, in perspective. In hindsight I think it's remarkable what Gibbs was able to achieve in the disfunctional ownership and managerial environment he was in. Not that I care but I think the taterskins are going suck ass next season and probably for the foreseable future. I'm not sure if I'll be a fan again when in X years fargface is no longer the owner. Probably not.

I have to admit there are a lot of Right Wing dicks on ES too. A hypocritical moderator banned me a couple weeks ago. My new goal might be to get myself banned from this site next. Are there many fascists here?

isn't washington like $20 million over the cap already?

cap doesnt apply to lil danni....i thought that might end once taterskins season ticket holder and lil danni right hand man paul taglibue retired but it appears as tho the ex commish still weilds quite a bit of power and influence

Hopefully this isn't true. If Snyder is way over cap and still looking to sign big names, it probably means he will be pushing to nix the CBA and go into uncapped years. I don't think that will happen, but you never know if owners like Snyder and Jones will start forming little coalitions, making it  the big spenders vs the rest (the rest being those owners who don't have the resources or willingness to compete). Doesn't bode well for an Eagles fan. Or the NFL for that matter.

Snyder beats the cap by pushing the cap hit way out into the future, then making the players re-negotiate before the big hit comes.  It makes the players happy because ESPN talks about the umpteen-bazillion dollar contract they got.  It makes the agent happy because they get a cut from both the original contract and from the re-negotiation.

Excellent point - the reason that it is easy for Snyder to force the players to re-negotiate is that most of the high-priced free agents he signs come up short and would be in trouble if they got cut.

The Eagles aren't the Phillies.  As one of only five franchises worth over a billion dollars, they're one of the big market teams who, without a salary cap, would be able to sign anyone at any price.

i dont think so...first of all the size of market doesnt mean that much in the nfl since theres so much revenue sharing....with no cap it would be all about the size of your owners pockets...and if you go by what a lot of people have said about lurie and his lack of liquid cash i think they would be really hurt by uncapped years

Don't they usually stay millions under the cap?? Lurie's pockets seem so tight that it might not matter if there was no cap, he wouldn't spend it if he had it anyway.

shorebird

But really, what has overspending got the taterskins? Even with no cap, Snyder would screw it up. Look at how he went about hiring a coach. It almost seemed that Zorn was not a calculated thought out move, but an act of desperation after no other coach but Fossil wanted a job that came with assistant coaches already in place.

I guess your saying he will overspend because he thinks that in the long run the players will never see the high end of the big contract because he expects them to fail. Thats real good business. Doesn't bode well if you want to win. His lockeroom might as well have a revolving door on it.

Cerevant

I didn't say that was his plan, I'm just saying that's why it works.
