Its one thing for a player to play bad that leads to mcnabb gettin hammered play after play, but its another thing for the coaches to not give justice a hand with an extra TE

if your gonna blame anyone, blame the god damn coaches who let it go on

I know we love to blame the coaches on :CF, and this was certainly partly their fault.  But when a player is completely incapable of doing even a passable job at playing his position, shouldn't the majority of the blame/ridicule go his way?

Yes.  I think of Umenura's 6 sacks, 4 of them came with him going directly at Justice.  4 sacks is still horrible and Justice shouldn't get much slack but at no point did Reid or any other coach send a TE over in that general direction to help out.

We don't really know why Justice played so poorly.  Maybe he sucks that bad.  Maybe he's not comfortable playing LT since he played RT in college.  Maybe he needs more than one game to adjust to that position.  Maybe he just had a really bad day.  Who knows?

But when you're a farging head coach and you see one of your players getting abused out on the field, part of your job is to adjust and not leave one of your players hanging out to dry.

Then again, we're talking about the same coach who's given McNabb almost no WR help during his career so I guess it's just par for the course.

I blame Reid more for drafting Justice than for that game.  He was an early 2nd round pick who had over a year to adjust to the NFL, learn the scheme, and prepare to play.  And he clearly couldn't handle it in laughable fashion.

Herremans basically dominated Umeniyora in 2005 (Moats broke off several long runs off LT) and I thought the logical choice would have been to shift him out there with MJG at LG rather than letting Justice get embarrassed.

I'm just glad that Madden 08 came out before that game so it didn't affect his player ratings because I recently lost Tra for the year and young Winston has done a heckuva job filling in for him.

i can't tell if this is a joke or not.  i don't know one person who didn't like that pick when it happened.

I was stone cold serious.  It's all about 20/20 hindsight.  Do you still love the pick today?

i wanted justice in the first round. yea he sucked hard his first game, but i wouldn't throw the towel in on a player strictly based on one game performance. he was matched up against a premiere pass rusher in osi. i can't blame the kid. the coaches should of done something before it got out of hand. thats just pathetic. the fact that mcnabb was the one who was taking the abuse angers me more. you don't throw your franchise qb into the frying pan like that. even more so, the guy wasn't 100%. reason enough to can the fat ass

and its not just  :CF posters who think "its the coaches". its anyone with a common fargin knowledge of football who can pick out the problem with the eagles.

Gargano keeps saying on WIP that he thinks the birds are going to take a run at Andre Davis (Houston) to address both the speedy WR need and returner, and mentions that Stallworth could come back along with signing Davis...

Didn't see this one mentioned yesterday, but along with those other coaching changes, they added Mark Whipple as offensive asst. coach.  He was Cowher's QB coach for the first 3 years of Roethlisberger's career ("Mark, have you met Mr. Kolb?") and won a title as a head coach with UMass...
