yeah that was pretty bad...but at least it was a real stuffed dog as opposed to some computer generated shtein that you would expect to see in the bridge of terabithia not a coen brothers flick

my favorite part of the picture was how tense it was....the edge of your seat suspension that coen brothers were able to build in many of the individual scenes was awesome...it was what a lot of horror movies want to be but never are...

This was far and away the most impressive part of the movie. Outside of Along with Bardem. And I don't think Tommy Lee was nominated for No Country.

they really did do a great job of making the entire movie tense and uncomfortable...the scene in the 2nd hotel, when Moss was sitting on the bed with the shotgun, and Anton turned off the hall light...they slowly zoomed in on the door lock, and you knew what was going to happen, and i jumped anyway when the thing shot through the door and into Moss' chest

yeah my bad he wasnt nominated for that...i was mixing that up with valley of elah

yeah that second hotel scene was incredible...the best part of it was even tho you knew dook was coming for him as soon as the front desk phone wasnt answered i still said an "oh farg" under my breath when you heard the transponder ticking...that was awesome

speaking of the phone in the hotel it was a great touch letting you hear the phone ring in brolins ear and hear the actual phone ringing from the lobby...i never been in a hotel like that but im sure thats exactly how it is

I read the book, and knew exactly what was going to happen in every scene, and was still saying oh farg and hoping for some other outcome throughout the movie. That's good film-making.

Land of the Dead - zombie flick starring Dennis Hopper, it was on TNT lastnight so I checked it out. Fell asleep during the last 20 minutes so I'm not really sure how it ended. If anyone knows (rjs?) let me know, I couldn't find the plot anywhere online

John Leguizamo gets bitten and sneaks his way into the city for the sole purpose of turning into a zombie and taking out Hopper. The nameless-actor who plays the good guy, grabs the hot chick, loads up the tank and rides the farg out of dodge.

QuoteMarvel Studios and WGA Sign Interim Agreement!

January 24, 2008

Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced today that they have reached an interim comprehensive agreement that will put writers immediately back to work on the Marvel Studios development slate. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"We're very excited about our summer releases, 'Iron Man' and 'The Incredible Hulk,' and look forward to resuming work with writers on our future projects including 'Captain America,' 'Thor,' 'Ant-Man,' and 'The Avengers,'" said Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel.

"Marvel Studios' signing of an interim agreement with the Writers Guild is more good news for our membership," said WGAE President Michael Winship and WGAW President Patric M. Verrone. "Marvel is committed to fairly compensating their writers and now they can move forward with their planned production schedule."

Marvel Studios recently launched its independent live-action film studio to develop, produce, and fully finance Marvel movies, which will include two of this summer's most anticipated releases - Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man will be released by Paramount Pictures on May 2, 2008, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow. The Incredible Hulk, which will be released by Universal Pictures on June 13, 2008, is directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, and William Hurt.

In cooperation with other studios, Marvel previously produced a long succession of hits, including the "Spider-Man," "X-Men," and "Fantastic Four" franchises, Ghost Rider, and Daredevil.

The WGA recently entered into interim agreements with The Weinstein Company, United Artists, Lionsgate, Worldwide Pants, Spyglass Entertainment, MRC, Jackson Bites, Mandate Films, and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

the big companies. a deal is coming within a week or two. tv shows may be able to get around 8-10 episodes made until they have to shut down production for the summer.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Different from what I thought but thanks.

Ever see Lucio Fulci's movie titled 'Zombie'? I put it at the top of my queue and have heard good stuff about it. Seems like one of those "how the farg did I miss this" movies.

Juno kind of disappointed me to be honest. I think mainly because of all the hype it's been getting. It was definitely funny, and laugh out loud....but that's it. It didn't have that one scene that really makes the theater bust out laughing for a long period of time ala the dinner table scene in Wedding Crashers or most of Superbad. Lots of smaller, smartass comment haha that was funny scenes though.

that's your fault for expecting that...i don't think anybody with a brain expected Wedding Crashers or Superbad type humor or laughs to come out of that movie.

from the first preview i expected a romantic comedy that i would actually laugh at and wouldn't hate...which is actually what it was

Oh I knew we were going to get the whole romantic comedy, pregnant chick learns a life lesson, etc blah blah blah...But I guess it disappointed me that I was expecting all that the whole time and not getting the extreme laughs to compensate for predictable ending. I mean, in Wedding Crashers and Superbad we all knew that Owen Wilson would end up with Rachel McAdams and in Superbad we all knew somehow they'd get their girls...but the movies were made better by the unpredictable laughs that were provided throughout the journey to the predictable ending(of course both of those movies were made for their laughs, not for their life lesson romantic comedy-ness, so comparing isn't really fair). About a 1/4th of the way into Juno you knew that the rest of the laughs would be provided by overstating the obvious with a sarcastic comment, none of which provided a serious holy shtein laugh. Still a lot of laughs though and still a good movie...just wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

just got back from juno and we have a new leader in the clubhouse for movie of the year...what a great farging movie...knocked up for grown ups (a million times better overall)...what made it so great was that it easily could have morphed into a too smart for its own good melodrama cookie cutter type movie...but instead it ended up being a super intelligent heartfelt serious comedy...i actually welled up at the end...

ellen page was scary good and should win the oscar...same for diablo codys screenplay which made every single character in the movie multi demensional and so interesting...2007 keeps elevating itself to the point that it might be the best year for american movies since sometime in the early 90's
