yeah i don't understand all the hate on buck.  when he was in the game, he looked very good this year.

Rome

Who's hating?  I said he should be replaced because if Westbrook went down he wouldn't be capable of being the starter for an extended period of time.

Say Westbrook went down in the preseason.  Does anyone here really want Correll Buckhalter starting 15 games for the Eagles and getting 15-20 carries a game?

Come on.

rjs246

He's living on borrowed time. That's why I want him gone.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

J.R. Reed should be replaced too for the same reasons.  He looked good when he was collapsing motherfargers' lungs out there but not so good when receivers were flying past him because his speed is gone.

I'm sick of gimps and castoffs on this team.  I want talent, speed, and youth on the Eagles.  Is that wrong?

If the choices are him or any other RB the Eagles have had for the last 5 years, yes.

The problem comes in game three of his starting gig when he blows out both knees, seven vertebrae and his o-ring and suddenly Tony Hunt is starting. Buckhalter in spot duty is fine. Buckhalter starting is guaranteed to result in injury. Just someone with some talent and durability as a backup would be a nice fallback plan.

Replace Westbrook with Buckhalter in game 1 of this past season and have him play the entire season as the #1.  What record would they have finished with if everything else played out the same way?

Do they even win 4 games without Westbrook?  I don't see how.

The Eagles have a ton of holes to fill but in my opinion getting someone to replace your #1 offensive weapon in the event of a catastrophic injury should be pretty high on the list.

Of course, the Eagles don't look at it that way.  They're thinking about 3-5 years down the line all the farging time.

Rome

Speaking of Hunt...

QuoteHunt had a chance to impress every day in practice and he did not do so. I am down on the guy. I was down on Bunkley at this point last year, too. I see how Hunt approaches things and he needs to be more mature and push himself more.

:-D

if youre going by the ability to replace a starter then there are a dozen backups on the team that should go before buck

i think youre undervaluing buck romey because of how good westbrook is...no one is going to replace 36 if he goes down and the offense is going to have to change accordingly...buck would be a competant replacement

For a game or two. Beyond that, do you really trust him to stay healthy as well as contribute? I don't.

Pick your poison:

There's no "talent" behind westbrook, the backup RB position has been ignored!

or

They drafted a backup RB too early, therefor the front office is trying to screw westbrook out of a job and/or money!

I don't want a guy with 50 knee operations being placed in a position where he's one hit away from being a year-long starter.

If some of you do, that's fine.  Agree to disagree.

rjs246

I actually agree with IGY in that there are much bigger concerns than backup running back on the team, but if they can upgrade Buckhalter I wouldn't exactly be upset with seeing him go.

They need to replace starters as well.  The point of this argument concerned the running back situation, though.  That's why I didn't address IGY's comments that veered off the running back topic.

i have the same amount of confidence in the starting qb finishing next season as i do the back up running back
