no one knows for sure but my take is like this

in terms of player eval heckert via his scouting dept does 95% of it...meaning watching games all year...getting film on players then evaluating them then  grading them..after that they get listed out on a board..first by best overall then by position

andys 5% is going to an all star game or two then the combine and of course some film watching


as for the pick itself reverse it...

andys 95% would be determing team needs then going on heckerts board and watching some film on players that fit those positions and deciding who he likes the best

heckerts 5% would be giving his opinion when asked and possibly even recommending a pick or even making one in some of the lower rounds

Heckerts departure will give AR 100% control as they promote a toady. Yet the amount of rope he gets cannot be more than a season or two. Another year like this and maybe a real GM is in the cards. A disaster...who knows? McNabb, Dawkins, Ryunan, etc. go and rebuilding commences - maybe without fatboy.

Look to 09 or 10 if the team isn't really "a hair away" in 08.
