Holy farg.  I didn't even realize McDougle was still on the team.

I forgot Thomas Tapeh was still on the team, and he's out there all the time.

Displaced

I don't know what team has been watching but Thomas Tapeh has developed into a better than average blocking fullback.

He more than handles linebackers, seals the edge, blows up safeties and is quick enough to get out of Westy's way.  He has decent hands and can pick up tough yards every now and then.

I have no problem with Tapeh.  I think the only reason we don't appreciate him is the fact that he plays for the Eagles.

Dillen

Agreed 100%. The Eagles could do much, much worse at FB. He's a good blocker who can actually run so he's useful in the long gains. Maybe he's not Tony Richardson or Lorenzo Neal, but considering the other "options" out there there's no reason to want to get rid of him.

MadMarchHare

Who farging cares about the FB.  The Birds never run anyway, and half the time when they do, Tapeh isn't in anyway.
Anyone but Reid.

PoopyfaceMcGee

#9 is exactly what I said earlier, and I think Greggie deserves to go stay.

Look, Ed, Bill Walsh always used one for screens, that's true.  You really want Tapeh, or for that matter, any FB taking the screen instead of Westbrook?

I'm just saying you could use Tony Hunt as the goddamn fullback and it wouldn't make much difference.  Hunt would get as many touches as FB as he did this season (and yes, I know the dumbass can't block, it's just a very frustrated example).
Anyone but Reid.

Tapeh is good.

And I doubt Ed was saying he'd prefer Thomas Tapeh to have the ball in his mitts rather than Westbrook. He's likely referring to Tapeh blocking for Westbrook on those screens.

Thomas Tapeh and any debates about him are far, far, far down the list of discussions this offseason, IMO.

Rome

I'd prefer to see Westbrook & Buck in the same backfield more often but Tapeh has been fine as a blocking FB.  It's not his fault the fat farg calls his number in the most asinine situations and although I would be fine if I never saw him with the ball in his hands again, his blocking has been pretty damn good this year.  Hell, Westbrook had the best year ever for a running back in team history so he's gotta be doing something right back there.

good thing the WCO doesn't need one for screens, huh

exactly...if you cant catch the ball in the wco then you need to go..and its not as if tapeh is a devastating blocker and makes up for his lack pass catching skills...the guy isnt very good to begin with and is an even worse fit in this scheme...get em out...

QuoteHoushmandzadeh tied for the league lead in catches, receiver Chad Johnson set a club record with 1,440 yards, and Palmer set another club record by throwing for 4,131 yards.

Didn't matter. The Bengals still finished below .500 against a schedule that was as favorable as any in recent years. They faced only four playoff teams this season, including Pittsburgh twice, but scuttled their chances by losing six of their first eight games.

"A lot of guys weren't attuned to winning," safety Dexter Jackson said. "They were attuned to getting a certain amount of yards or a certain amount of this instead of winning the game."

Defensive end Justin Smith said the same thing: The locker room has some players who were more interested in themselves than the outcome. At times, they played like a team that wasn't very focused on what had to be done.
