Who are these idiots that paid for steroids by check?

They're athletes. Some of them probably wrote down "roids" as the check's memo.

Banned by MLB or not...they are illegal to buy.

Former trainer Brian McNamee said he injected Roger Clemens with the steroid winstrol, according to the Mitchell Report.

I think its ignorant that these guys are standing up on the podium thanking their wives, god, their respected organization about their yearly achievments, that they cant once give a shout out to Winstrol. farged up

Eric Gagné is in there for HGH.

Once again Wade is being hailed as a hero down here. At one point, one of the sports radio guys uttered "I dont know why Philadelphia fired this guy"...HA!!

Tejada is a nice acquisition for them because SS was a black hole for them last year. And this gives them one helluva line-up

Bourn
Matsui
Tejada
Berkman
Lee
Pence
Wiggington
catcher
Catcher will be JR Towles, rookie last year who hit .375 with 12 RBI in 40 AB last year.

average lineup, two decent starters and no legit closer.  5th place
Although the pitching is going to be an issue, lolzorza @ average lineup. Seriously. Their 3, 4, 5 and 6 hitters could be the best in the league. On top of a pretty good 3b in Wigginton, two speed guys at the top and a catcher (not named Brad Ausmus) who is capable of hitting over .220 over a full season.

When I looked through the report I really liked finding names like Fernando Vina and Chad Allen. Vina's real juiced up ad I don't even know who the hell Chad Allen is.

The part about Dykstra:

QuoteLenny Dykstra played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball with two clubs, the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, from 1985 to 1996. As a player with the Phillies, Dykstra played in three All-Star games and finished second in Most Valuable Player balloting in 1993.

Radomski first met Dykstra when he was playing for the Mets and became "very close with Lenny." According to Radomski, when Dykstra reported to spring training in 1989, "his increased size was noticeable." When Radomski asked him about his increased size, Dykstra admitted to taking steroids. Radomski also recalled that Dykstra's weight fluctuated during that spring training. He stated that members of the Mets' management discussed Dykstra's weight fluctuations with the team's athletic trainers and that "the trainers would just laugh."

After the Phillies lost the 1993 World Series, Dykstra called Radomski and asked whether Radomski could get Dykstra steroids. Although Radomski does not remember the exact time frame, he recalled providing Dykstra with Deca-Durabolin, Dianabol, and testosterone.

Since approximately 2000, the Commissioner's Office has been aware that Dykstra used anabolic steroids during his playing career. At that time, senior vice president for security Kevin M. Hallinan, his deputy Martin Maguire, and then-executive vice president for baseball operations Sandy Alderson met with Dykstra and his doctor in an attempt to increase their understanding of steroids. Hallinan said that Dykstra admitted to using steroids, saying that he used them to "keep his weight up" during the season. According to Hallinan, Dykstra said using steroids eliminated the need for him to work out during the season. :-D

In order to provide Dykstra with information about these allegations and to give him an opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he never agreed to an interview.

Can you do that?  Dealers are getting high tech.

Also, here's a damn good article by Jayson Stark about the Mitchell Investivation.  Can't say I disagree at all with the overall point the article is making.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=3154116&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

To sum it all up, the investigation was a complete and total waste of time and money since it provided no concrete evidence against the players named in the report actually using steriods or other performance enhancing drugs.  It's just saying what everyone already knew, that players have been using steriods for the last 15+ years.  Not only that, but I was shocked and dissappointed (for lack of a better word) that there were only 82 players named.  That sounds like the number of players I'd expect to show up in that report had the investigation only gone back over the last several years but for it to go back over a decade and only turn up 82 names is rather pathetic and probably less than 1% of all Major League players to don a uniform during that timeframe.

Sorry, but 1% doesn't consititute an epidemic.  That's not even status quo.

Webb and Haren on the same staff, damn
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

After Mike Cameron broke off talks with the Padres, they traded for Jim Edmonds

PoopyfaceMcGee

Jayson Stark's livelihood rides on Major League Baseball, don't forget.

BTW, couldn't the Phillies use an outfielder?
