That said...it's not like Lewis has been worth what he's been paid by SF by any stretch.  I know absence makes the heart grow fonder, but let's not get carried away.  Lewis was not good last year....

I don't think Considine is playing any worse than Lewis this year or last year.  The problem is that, once again, we are not setting the bar very high.

i wasnt implying that i bought into the eagles position of not resigning him or benching him but that we all knew he was gone and his play last season did not help. point was instead of replacing him and improving the position at the same time they just sat back and did nothing and promoted another one of these project players.

when at the draft the eagles claimed they liked merriweather (was it him or the other safety?) but that once he was off the board they traded down...was BS because if they really like a player they have shown they will move up and or make some moves to acquire that player. they sat by counting on considine to start and magically becoming a good player.

every one believed considine was better in coverage and he may be so marginally but micheal lewis was more of sure tackler. they improved on one weakness (barely) and invited another.

Actually, I think the two are comparable in both situations.  Lewis made mental mistakes in coverage where Considine doesn't have the athleticism to cover many people.  Lewis made a lot of big hits but would overpursue and miss some easy ones, where Considine is usually in good position for a tackle but can't always physically make it.

Basically, Considine's brain in Lewis's body would make a damn good safety.  As it stands now, neither of them are very good at all.

i don't remember seeing Lewis "miss some easy ones"  he'd easily be better in this defense than Considine
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Neither would compare to your mom.  She'd be a great fit in the Jim Johnson defense.  He's an evil genius of blitzing, you know.  Your mom could line up right behind the DT's, off the edge, or just play center field.  She'd be all-pro in this scheme.   Much more than in a cover 2.

ice grillin you

you can make a solid argument that the eagles lost the new orleans playoff game because they refused to put lewis in for considine during the second half when the saints were gashing the farg out of the eagles run defense

i totally agree with retard...im not saying they should have resigned lewis but to replace him with considine is unacceptable
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

[CO]Considine would be a good player if he could tackle worth a damn. He's quick to the ball but is nothing more than a speed bump when he gets there.

I remember him going for a couple big hits, only to miss completely or hit the guy, but only Lewis would fall down.

Basically this thread has devolved into a "who sucks less" argument and that makes me even more depressed about the state of this franchise.

So thanks for that.

I don't know what you guys are bitching about!  With another year in the system and some experience, while beefing up his Hoyda, Considine will be a l-e-g-i-t starter!  No need to draft Kenny Phillips.

We sometimes wait and get the player we wanted (Bunkley).  Heckert gets on his high horse and says we wanted him, figured we could wait and did and got him.  Then we pick complete douchebags like McCoy in the fargING 2nd round and (trade up?) for Considine.  Sean isn't complete white diarrhea, but he shouldn't be starting.

2 questions:

I still can't believe we didn't get Merriweather.  Anyone knows how he's playing this year?

Why don't we try Mikell at SS?

1.  They actually traded out of the 3rd round and drafted Considine with the first pick in the 4th.

2.  Trying Mikell at SS?  That is a novel idea that no one else has mentioned!

Merriweather just got drug 10 yrds into the endzone by Chris Cooley in garbage time vs the Skins sunday. he's a backup right now.
