Since the Mets are shot, I kind of want the Padres to keep winning. We'd play them in the first round and the Mets would be out of the playoffs totally.

Plus it would keep Colorado out and with the way they're playing, I'd want nothing to do with them in the playoffs.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

MDS

Padres still winning, but whatever. The Mets are  a farging joke.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

watch the final out celebration on CSN.  In the background you can see the Phanatic pass out behind home plate.  :-D

Quote"Burrell's ball isn't a home run," Smoltz said. "But that's just what this park can do for you. You get the ball in the air and you can get lucky. Obviously, they feast off it.

What a baby.

Instead of pissing and moaning about the ballpark maybe Smoltz should be worrying about securing tee times for next weekend because his farging season is over.  O-V-E-R.

Suck on that, you whiny funhole.

I was going to bring up the same point. Wheels yabbed the first few innings how Smoltz doesn't shut up about pitching at CBP.

Smoltz needs to stfu.

The first 4 runs had nothing to do with the park. His error-filled team, perhaps, but not the ballpark.

Kyle Kendrick sucks at teh bunting.

as long he doesn't suck at teh pitching :)

For the most part, I agree.  Although I don't think there's any reason for a pitcher not to be able to at least make some sort of contact when bunting.

Kendrick was ok last night, imo.  He was working the corners really well but he left quite a few pitches up and in the middle of the plate.  I think he left a couple out there for Teixeira and A. Jones that they both flied out on, but imo it wasn't because they were great pitches but rather 2 damn good hitters not quite catching enough of the ball.  And in the ab when Chipper hit his hr I thought Kendrick could have fooled him by coming back inside on the hr pitch after painting the outside with his previous 4 or 5 pitches.

But still, a pretty solid performance by him considering that he is just a rookie and last night was the biggest game of the year so far.  He seemed calm, cool and in control of himself the entire night and didn't fold under the pressure.  To me, that may be the most important part.

Kendrick is the first rookie pitcher to win 10 games for the Phils since 1991.

Jimmy Rollins needs 2 more at bats to set the single season MLB record (705 by Willie Wilson for KC in 1980.)
