Time to rebuild this team starting from the coach on down.

I'd say the problem is that they cut Barksdale, but his team is 0-2 also.

That is pretty much the conclusion that I have drawn.  He wouldn't take Kolb unless he was planning on being here for the long haul.

Andy Reid met Larry Brown out for dinner before the game...dont be so sure

What does that have to do with anything? You are reading way too much into the situation.

and you are reading way too much into the statement...

I've thrown out some criteria before, but it really boils down to this: they will milk this cash cow until it is dry.

How many people decided not to renew their season tickets after the last 6-10 season?  How many of you will not renew them after this year?
How many people on this board would jump at the opportunity to get season tickets for face value?
How many people on this board have purchased licensed NFL apparel in the last 12 months?
How many people on this board pay to watch the Eagles (NFL Sunday Ticket, Bars)?

Until seats are empty and the cash stops flowing, it would be a moronic business decision to change anything.  While the current level of frustration may seem to indicate otherwise, the fact that the Eagles haven't gone 2 years without making the playoffs gives the fanbase at large hope.  As long as there is hope, the cash will continue to flow.  As long as the cash continues to flow, Andy Reid will be the head coach of the Eagles.

Get used to it.

none of this is really an issue....the team made four conf championships and a superbowl...its not as if they are going 4-12 every year and not spending money...i agree the money could be better spent at times...but mostly its been horrible coaching that has prevented them from winning a title and now bad PP decisions that have thwem going in the wrong direction

in other words this isnt a phillies situation where they truly could care less if they ever win a world series...lurie really wants a superbowl his main problem now is the fact that hes too close to andy and he either doesnt want to or cant make the move to seperate himself from a terrible coach
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

QuoteBrown then asks if the media is tougher on him than on white quarterbacks such as Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning.

"Let me start by saying I love those guys," McNabb tells HBO. "But they don't get criticized as much as we do. They don't."

Um....yeah....thats because their 10x's better than you, and are more accurate, and more are efficient, read the defense better, and...

reese125

oh...and enough with the racial semantics McNabb. Your black, Im white..get over it and do something about it fool

The team isn't cooked yet though. It looks bad now, but everyone said the same thing last year. They aren't a championship caliber team, but playoffs are still a real possibility in this awful conference.

There's NO POINT in getting to the playoffs if you can't win the Superbowl. It's stunning how many people will accept the mediocrity of just making the playoffs when they KNOW Philly has no chance to win the endgame. Stop settling for scraps.

i put far more of the blame on reid/heckert than banner...banner can be blamed for things like letting mike lewis go in favor of considine and perhaps the team not going all out for certain free agents...but in general reid and heckert have whiffed on so many players its not even funny....i mean have they hit big on a player whether it be a FA or draft pick since andrews...i cant think of any...thats going on four years now...and it shows all across the roster...there is a dearth of talent...

and now this year hunt cant get on the damn field and they cut two picks in camp

Agreed. Banner isn't responsible for cutting Bloom & Reed and bringing back Mahe. Banner isn't responsible for the game plan (or lack their of). Banner is making the run/pass ratio ridiculously skewed. Banner isn't keeping Hunt in street clothes while Buckhalter sucks up the field with a 2 ypc average... Of all the things currently wrong with this team Banner's fairly far down the list. Yeah he might not pay for top flight talent, but how much of that is Reid also saying he doesn't need top flight talent at those positions?

PoopyfaceMcGee

There is no doubt the media's coddling of McNabb is higher due to racial sensitivities.  It's ridiculous, but to make up for the Rush Limbaughs and other occasional idiots, most media guys are way too easy on him.

Charles Barkley was nauseating last night with his suckling of McNabb and Reid as well.

You can turn yourself around in the NFL very fast. That has been proven. The Eagles themselves jumped from 6-10 to 10-6.

I agree Reid has to go and Heckert as well. Get someone in here who doesn't have these little asinine philosophies about certain positions not being valued. You need to value receivers and linebackers. You just do.

I think this team can still be fixed very quickly if they will just go out for once and land some impact farging players in the offseason instead of waiting for the first wave of free agents to all get signed by other teams. Also

The team isn't cooked yet though. It looks bad now, but everyone said the same thing last year. They aren't a championship caliber team, but playoffs are still a real possibility in this awful conference.

Looking at this team right now though they need 2 new defensive ends, a go to receiver, a nickel corner, and a threat as a returner. Add those things with a new coach like Gruden who will actually run the ball and be creative and you have a top team in the NFC.

You don't win by signing a lot of free agents. They need to draft better, plain and simple. They'll need 3 strong drafts to get the team back to a NFC championship type level.

#1 need is a new head coach who runs the farging ball and understands that adding the best players to the team is the most important thing, not position.

Phanatic

So did anyone else get the feeling that the guys in the Monday night booth were hoping we would all go out and kill ourselves as Eagles fans...

Yeah rebuild the team. It be nice to get a high level draft pick is, however I'm not sure this is the coaching staff I want to make that decision.

The fact that you're not absolutely sure it should NOT be this coaching staff makes you an insufferable homer.

they need to trade all 1st day picks down multiple times, thus accumulating 14 5th round picks.

Super. Bowl.

I'd like to see those guys get in the mix there and compete.
