While hoping not to end the season on the disabled list, Cole Hamels acknowledged Tuesday that his return will depend on his team's place in the standings as well as his ailing left elbow.
If the Phillies have fallen too far out of playoff contention, "I don't think it would serve a purpose (to return)," Hamels said. "It would be too much of a risk, unless we're going for something. The goal is to finish the season healthy, whether it's two or three starts, but that all depends on our chances for the playoffs."

i dont know maybe its me but the second i saw him go off after the game i immediately thought of the phillies and how they did next to nothing after that rollins at bat in florida...which considering that particular situation was one of the worst ball strike calls ive ever seen...it would have tied a game in the middle of a playoff race...

where as last night the braves were down 5-2 and pretty much out of it...yet chipper and bobby cox go off...and jimmy rollins does little more than a one liner in the paper...and where the hell was charlie after the jimmy at bat...you gotta come out there and go nuts on the guy (as should have jimmy)...instead its the same ole well get them tomorrow theres plenty of time left in the season blah blah blah
