They'd better not fall asleep and have major letdown against the Fish.

You stop it young lady.  You're starting to sound like an N word.  Negladelphian  ;D

What the farg. I followed the end along on gameday while in may Journalism Research class (yea its a bore), this team is a joke. It's all a cocktease. Don't buy in. I can't help it.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The BIGSTUD

Werth every penny. Easily best outfieldier in the national ligg right now.

The next series with Florida is the key series, because this is the type of series the Phils typically blow after a big one. If the Phils can sweep or win the series, then they make the playoffs. If not they don't.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

My daughter and I were listening to the game on XM when Utley got the game-winning hit.  She was screaming and high-fiving me in the car.  I realized at that moment that the curse of being a Phillies fan has officially been transferred to her just like it was from my father to me, his father to him and so on.

Poor thing.

:-D

Also - I'm thinking about buying into this team.  I know I shouldn't.  My head, my heart, my guts and even that little voice inside my head that usually tells me to cheer them on no matter what is screaming "DON'T DO IT - NOT AGAIN!" but I'm seriously considering it.

Kill me now.

Also Part II - speaking of Burrell, did anyone else notice him standing behind home plate when Iguchi scored?  Did you see his reaction??  Who is that imposter!?!

MDS

Burrell has been crazy. He was jumping around like a little kid when Rowand made that catch in the 6th (or 5th?) inning. More importantly, he's been out of his mind lately. Why the hell not buy in, we've been paying attention, although cynically, all season. It's the last month, let's sit back and watch 'em get swept by Florida.

Go team!

Lo Duca was just crying like a little bitch. He said yeah we'll get these guys later, they're dancing around the field and celebrating now but we're gonna get them later (I paraphrased and probably farged that up because it was beyond pathetic)

Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Since I have a job that doesn't usually let me camp on the computer all day (though I was able to keep track of the score), I got a kick out of reading all the posts already knowing the outcome of the game.  We're all a bunch of degenerates.  :-D

Some thoughts of the game:

- Romero couldn't go too long.  He'll be needed a lot in the last month as the Phils continue to be in the race.  The last week, you may keep him in.  Right now, you've got to conserve the arm.

- As much as we've blasted Burrell earlier this season, he's been a beast since the all-star break.  He could easily be the second-half MVP of this team, and will likely end up with 30 homers and over 90 RBI.  I didn't think he's be close to this in June.  On the radio, they said he has the top batting average since the break (.352).

- Jimmy Rollins has backed up his talk against the Mets this season.  He's batting .344, and his OPS is 1.090 against New York.

- After his recent slip, Howard has seen the ball better the past few games, and his average is back up over .270.

- Aaron Roward, today's HR beside, has been dreadful lately.  He needs a day off badly.

- I was keeping track of the score at school, the last I saw it was 8-5 Phils.  I had a few things to do at the office before I got in my car, and when I got there to turn on the XM, it was 10-8 Mets.  I listened to the rest of the game while driving home (about 45 minutes) on I-75.  A car passed me as Burrell hit the home run, and looked at me like I was nuts as I was screaming "PAT!" in the car.  I was only about a mile from home when Utley knocked in Iguchi to win the game.  They could probably hear me carrying on like an idiot all the way back to school.  My voice is hoarse tonight.

- Not sure what the name of the new radio announcer is, but he's pretty good.  I enjoyed listening to him.

- Andersen played the homer when the Phils won.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

- Romey, are you heading to one of the games against the Marlins?  I may try to get down on Saturday or Sunday.  Would love to catch Cole Hamels on Sunday if he's really going out.

- That was one hell of a series.  All four games competitive, offering a little bit of everything (pretty good pitching the first three games, great defensive plays, comebacks, timely hitting, a few controversial calls), and the Phillies winning all four (and the final three by a total of five runs) just energizes me for watching the team in September.

- This team is different from the last several years just in the fact that they seem to truly enjoy playing baseball, and enjoy playing each other.  If Charlie Manuel has something to do with that, then he deserves some credit.  Yes, he is a horrific strategic manager, but this team has something intangible that has been missing.  Whether it's enough to push them over the hump is questionable, but let's hope for a fun and memorable stretch run.

They just showed that brawl lastnight in the stands - I love our fans.
