According to Phillies.com, Hamels expects to go on the 15 Day DL with his elbow.

I hate this team. I just want to disconnect and save myself the disappointment later.

Maybe Utley and Victorino will give the team a boost production-wise, but games get tighter towards the end of the season and losing a stud like Hamels just puts more pressure on the bats.

Its retroactive from his last start so he'll most likely only miss two starts.

The real bad news is Eaton is healthy

do you really see a scenario where cole only misses two starts....i just dont see him taking a week off then throwing on the side and have the pain magically gone...im not saying tommy john surgery is in order but i can easily see him being shut down for the rest of the year

Just going off of what I saw in his interview lastnight. He said he felt a little pain but pitched through it vs. the Nats. Threw in the bp and felt some tenderness so he decided to shut it down. From his demeanor it didnt seem like a big deal and that he was just being cautious. I heard Dei Lynam (or maybe it was Rhea Hughes) saying because of the dye used for the MRI it would force him to miss 2 starts but if it were up to Cole it would only be tomorow.

i never heard that about the dye...thats certainly good news...i agree on his demeanor...but elbow pain never seems that simple...

Fabio Castro to start on Saturday, Cole will miss at least 2 starts. No word yet on how the MRI went. But Victorino could be back tonight, which would be great news, but Werth has actually been better than his average production so whatever.

King's injury is not serious. He'll miss two starts and should be back after Sept. 1 roster expansions. Of course, one of those starts is against the Mets. Yay!

Since he's going to the 15 day DL, he'll be replaced by Shane Victorino, who is in the lineup batting sixth tonight.
