I gotta agree with the Cole on this one. Rarely, if ever, Igy? BS.

If a guy suffers a severe/high ankle sprain, ESPECIALLY if he's a bigger guy, a lot of times they will be put in the boot. Often times they say they'll be in it for "a week" and often times it ends up being longer.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I had a severe high ankle sprain (and I'm quite small lol) and I was put into a cast.  :paranoid

Even more the reason to post it. They'll be especially cautious with a guy who they're paying millions to.

it may be the drugs, but this made me laugh.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Eagles Notes | Reid expects Andrews to start season

Andy Reid believes that guard Shawn Andrews will be ready to play in the season opener Sept. 9 against the Packers in Green Bay.
In fact, the Eagles' coach said it twice yesterday.

"Yeah, I believe he will be," Reid said. "Yes."

Andrews, recovering from what the team is calling a sprained right ankle, said Wednesday that the news he received from an ankle specialist the week before was "a tearjerker," which prompted questions about if and when he'd return to the field this season.

"Well, Shawn's an emotional guy," Reid said. "He wants more than anybody to be out here and playing. That locker room can be kind of a rough place when you're not playing. But, in my opinion, there's nobody that wants to be out there more than Shawn. He's frustrated. But the main thing, and really the only thing, that I care about right now is that he's getting better, and that he's doing."

With Andrews sidelined, the Eagles are looking at Scott Young and Max Jean-Gilles as potential replacements. Young started Monday night against the Ravens in Baltimore, and Jean-Gilles, a second-year guard from Georgia, will get the start in tonight's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field.

After Reid finished talking about Andrews, he was asked about his policy that prevents players from addressing their own injuries.

"I'd rather just do it myself," he said. "I think it just works out better. I mean, we're talking about this thing here and blowing it way out of proportion."

Other injuries

Reid said cornerback Lito Sheppard (strained abdominal muscle) would play tonight, and he also gave a positive progress report on Brian Dawkins, who has been sidelined for most of training camp by Achilles tendinitis.
"I can't tell you how many plays" Sheppard will play, Reid said. "It won't be very many. He'll go out and take a shot at it."

As for Dawkins, Reid said he thinks there's a decent chance his six-time Pro Bowl safety will be able to play when the Eagles travel to Pittsburgh Aug. 26 for their third preseason game. Dawkins returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday.

"Unless there's a setback, he should have a shot" at playing against the Steelers, Reid said. "You're dealing with the Achilles tendon, so if there's soreness there you back off. Right now, it's good and you want to keep it that way."

Reid also addressed injuries to tight end L.J. Smith (strained groin) and defensive tackle Ian Scott (swollen left knee), both of whom have rarely been on the field during training camp.

Smith "is doing well," Reid said. "He's not ready yet. We're going to get him back out there. He's still tender. It's in the groin . . . not directly related to the sports hernia. . . . The surgery he had is fine. It's all intact. It's been double-checked and triple-checked. I think that was the scary part."

Scott, meanwhile, has not responded well to treatment for his knee and will sit out his second straight game.

"He's got soreness in there, and he's had a bunch of different people look at him," Reid said. "He practiced a little bit the last couple days on the scout team and tested the knee out. Hopefully, we can get him out there for the Pittsburgh game."

Shawn Andrews' Season Is In Doubt.
Written by Garry Cobb
Friday, 17 August 2007

I just learned from a source with the Eagles that the 2007 season of Shawn Andrews is in doubt.  The doctors, the Eagles and Shawn really don't know whether he's going to be able to return to action this year.

Big Shawn was being truthful the other day when he talked about his visit to the doctor's office. "When the doctor said what he said to me about different situations, it was a tearjerker," Andrews said. "Sometimes things happen when you have a 300-pound body on a leg that's been broken. It's tough. ... Pain's not the issue. It's out of my hands. It's out of my doctor's hands."

There's still a chance that he could return to action but the Eagles, the doctor and Big Shawn have no surety that he will return this year.  Andy was telling the truth when he said that Andrews is a very emotional player.  He is.  But he was also being honest the other day when he said,  "I don't know what the future holds. Time will tell. No one knows. It's out of my hands. I just have to keep praying, keep working and keep grinding."

Shawn said the doctor told him that this situation is different from the other time when he broke it.

"I knew I'd be back in nine or 10 months. Sometimes when something happens the second time, it's not always as good."
I know Andy is not going to like the fact that this information is out but what can you do.  This is not a slight against anybody.  We all hope Shawn returns to action.

Shawn finished the other night by saying, "Just pray for me if you care about me."
I'm praying for you kid.

Garry Cobb is a farging joke.  He sucked as a player, he writes like a tenth grade drop-out, and he shovels more shtein about the Eagles than anyone this side of Angelo Cataldi.

PhillyGirl

Yeah, Cobb has written many things that were WAY off base. His "sources" must hate him because they always make him look like a turd.
