Well, when the Phils had the bases loaded with none out, and Branyan and Rollins both struck out, that did kill any momentum the Phils were trying to get.

burrell had a great at bat tonight.  i was sitting on the 3rd base side, about 25-30 rows back.  he nails some lady in the gface with a foul ball.  then once the emt's got there, about two pitches later, he whacks another foul about two people in front of her.  then he gets struck out looking.  beautiful.

that was brutal but it was lost when manuel brought in farging branyan with no outs and 1st and 3rd...you need contact there not a home run...and branyan strikes out at an incredible rate...

a home run is in the 8th or 9th with two outs...but of course branyan had a once in a million  moment last night so charlie thinks hes a genius and trys it again

to be fair to charles, his hands are really tied there. his options from the right side are ruiz, roberson and nunez. they all suck, and ruiz isnt being used since hes the catcher. if he brings in dobbs, its probably the same result since dobbs has had 2 at bats against lhp all year.

i wouldve tried to keep saul rivera in the game, he was fixin for a blowup. bringing in roberson to squeeze there wouldve been a good move, but if it fails manuel gets killed for it.

anyway, more criticism should go to charlie for his bullpen use that game. if the phils tie it in the 9th, they have 2 one inning pitchers left before having to use fridays starter the real deal durbin. manuel used his long man, condrey, for 1 inning. he used a multi inning guy like mesa for 1 batter. they lost so it doesnt matter, but this couldve been just horrific if the game went on. of course, they could have other plans for friday and durbin still might be the long man. but thats doubtful considering they called zags up.

theres probably not a player in the major leagues who had less chance to make contact in that situation than russell branyan...and charlie still put him in...it was pathetic...you must get that run home...it takes so much pressure off the team in 8 and 9 only having to get one run

but as we know charlie may be reason number one why this team misses the playoffs....i know a lot of people will blame the bullpen but its been fine this year...ultimately once september hits its gonna be the lineup that chokes as they always do but in the big picture charlie costs this team a lot of games...to many for a team like the phillies to ever overcome

probably, yea. but you could argue that charlie is the only reason theyre in it. this team had 1000 reasons to quit with all that went down, but charlie did whatever he did to keep things going. his in game managing has been totally inept and will be totally inept, i think the phillies collectively know they have to overcome to make it. hell, the 3rd base coach is a farging retard and that dont help things.

what? i know theyre not winning anything. charlie's in game managing skills are big reason for that. its gonna be a close race and its gonna come down to a few games, and manuels gonna farg some up and cost them. not to mention, that 3 gamer with atlanta in the last week has braves sweep written all over it, even if atlanta is out of it by then.

its really doubtful the phillies will win anything with this ownership, but basically impossible with this manager. the only way they can get in is if they play an inordinate amount of easy to manage games, like blowouts or simply going to gordon in the 8th and myers in the 9th with the lead. if its a close game where he needs to think outside the box with pinch hitters, or when to pull a pitcher/leave him in, extra innings, etc....look out its gonna be bad.

I wouldn't shed a tear if Manuel was fired but he hasn't done a bad job this season. igy's on the money with bringing Branyan in. From Charlie's narrow perspective I'm sure he figured Branyan was hot because he hit a lucky HR the night before, but everyone else in the league knows the guys Burrell with more K's and less walks. Speaking of Burrell get him out of the 3 hole, it was a dumb move putting him there because he can't handle the pressure. Back to the 5 hole with Rowand who's also struggling in the 3.

i agree burrell needs to be moved...ironically tho he might be the hottest phillie right now...in general since charlie made that move the offense has been pathetic....led by choke dawg whos battin under .200 since then...another guy who has gone into the tank that no one is talking about is iguchi...also under .200...jimmys been bad as well

i bet theres not a phillie in the top 6 of the lineup thats batting over .250 in the last week or two
