I'm talking about a pinch-hitting role where you want more power than Abe and his awesome 0 HRs.  Abe is the better contact hitter (on all those grounders to the pitcher or to 2nd), but Branyan has the better chance of tying or winning a game in one swing...

If Branyan comes off the bench and hits one PH home run it will be a good move.
