The BIGSTUD

I don't think Green is going to be good. He is way overhyped and I haven't been impressed with his game. He's still young so who knows, but I don't think he'll be that good.

Jefferson I think will be very good.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

If that's the trade, the Celtics would be left with this:

Kendrick Perkins
Garnett
Pierce
Ray Allen
Rondo

Tony Allen
Big Baby Davis
Leon Powe
Gabe Pruitt
Brian Scalabrine

plus 5 open roster spots

DH

Take it FWIW, but I have a little inside info on this one, and Gomes hasnt even been mentioned yet.

Most likely Jefferson, Telfair, Green & Ratliff.

Will be done by tomorrow afternoon.

Rome

So they're getting a top 10 NBA player in Garnett and in return they're giving up a good player in Jefferson, a nightmare in Bassy, an expiring contract in Theo and the 2007 slam dunk champion.

Yeah, Ainge should be fired for that deal.

Jesus.

ainge is a terrible GM, to matter what happens with this trade
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Oh, I agree.  Ainge is a farging retard.  I'm not disputing that.  I am disputing the comments made earlier that this particular trade is "disastrous" and yada, yada, yada.

If the trade goes down the way Die-Hard described it, then it's a good deal for the Celtics.  And yeah, that pisses me off because I dislike them just as much as anyone else here.

DH

Agreed Romey.

If it goes down the way I heard it will, I personally think Minnesota can get more...possibly a decent amount more than what Ainge is offering.

Im a HUGE fan of Al Jefferson - I think he is going to be a stud. But, as far as I see it thats really all the Wolves are getting. Green can potentially become a decent player, but nothing special. Telfair is a waste of talent and obviously Theo (like many times in his career) is being thrown in to match dollars.

If I was McHale, Id hang on to KG and deal him at the deadline...this kinda deal is not hard to find for a superstar - especially if a team like Chicago is looking for that one guy to get them to the Finals in the middle of February.

Just seems like McHale is settling.

I hate this deal because it immediately makes Boston a contender in the east while we wait to get out of cap hell. They won't get a title out of the deal but the East is so horrid that this makes them competitive. Not this year or the next but 3-5 years down the line the Celtics are going to be shtein.

Rondo is a hell of a lot different than Telfair and Green. They have done absolutely nothing their entire careers. It's a hell of a lot better deal for the Celtics if it's Jefferson, Ratliff and those two because they're not losing anything except Jefferson. Jefferson and Rondo is downright stupid, but getting rid of Jefferson and then absolute trash if much better.

SunMo

ESPNews is saying the deal is Jefferson, Green, Gomes, Telfair, Ratliff, and 2 first round picks for Garnett

The two #1 picks are inconsequential because Boston would just farg them up anyway and neither one would be lottery picks with Garnett, Pierce & Ray Allen in the same lineup in the foreseeable future.

It's a lot to give up, sure, but it's not enough to make it a bad deal for Boston.  Far from it, actually.

I highly think anyone is thinking about Al "I still haven't proved anything yet not to be traded" Jefferson or anyone else on that team for that matter when you have the opportunity to grab another solidified, repeated ALL-STAR. The Celtics and Ainge are salivating for a winning team "now" after the brutal years they have just endured. There not used to that in that basketball city, and its smart.

This is a prize move for Boston, and a move anyone in here would pull the trigger in a heartbeat for a chance to win again. They went from garbage to gold just like that. What does that do? Lifts the fans moral back up again, saves Danny's ass again, and it creates a "what about the future?" smokescreen from the fans point of view. Now you have a squad that can be truly entertaining, bring in sold out arenas every home game and away game, and most importantly---extremely competitive.

Play for the 2007-2008 season, worry about losing later...

ice grillin you

without rondo in the deal is makes it way more palatable for the celtics...there was just no way they could give away their future at small and large

basically the trade is jefferson for garnett...the rest is essentially to match salary
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Well, I believe one of the picks in the trade is actually Minnesota's, so that should probably be a top 5 to top 10 pick.  As for the trade, I think it's solid for both teams.  Minnesota wasn't looking to win now, so they might as well try to get something for KG.  Jefferson is one of the better young big men in the league, and along with Brewer and Foye, they seem to be building a solid young core.

As for Boston, they still aren't going to contend with the big boys out west, but this will make them a contender for the Eastern Conference championship.  They have no depth though, so it would be smart for them to target a pg like Brevin Knight, and a big like PJ Brown, or *gasp* Chris Webber.  Once they traded for Ray Allen, they had basically decided they wanted win now, so they might as well trade most of their youngsters for a chance to make some noise.
