Utley will come back before he should, that's the type of player he is. Hell he played through it for the game.

mcnabb played a game on a broken ankle and didnt come back early...not saying chase wont but just because he played the rest of the game has no bearing on when he comes back

No farging way will the Phillies allow Utley to come back before he's completely healed.   Chase is the franchise along with Howard.  No way they risk further injury to him pennant chase or not.

If they could trade away Eaton and Burrell for glue, I'd be happy.  It's time to tank the season... only on purpose this time.

The good thing is that it's just a broken hand, and a minor break at that. It's not like he torn up his knee or Achilles or anything that is truly vital towards playing the game of baseball. So I think comparing McNabb's multiple serious injuries and Utley's slight break is a tough analogy to make.

Sure, a hand is obviously vital, but it's nothing that would affect him years down the road or really take too long to heal. What sucks is that it is on his throwing hand, because I would say he could be back 3 weeks if it was on his glove hand because the Phils could just wrap and pad it up. But considering he has to throw with that hand, I would think at least a month.

If the Phils are still "in it", then I think he might try to come back early. If they fall to double digits or close to double digits behind the division/wild card, then I'm sure the Phils will tell him to take his time and I'm sure he'll reciprocate.

I'm hoping the Phils re-sign Rowand too. Money will not be an issue this off-season. It comes down to whether the Phils have the will to re-sign him and whether Rowand wants to come back.

there are only two acceptable options for Rowand before the deadline:  extension or trade

if they pull another billy wagner with him it will be completely unacceptable
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

randy miller was on wip a few minutes ago saying that there are several agents out there that have told him that rowand has a secret deal with the white sox to return to them next year...and barring some astromonical offer from another team hes definitely going back to chicago

I'm not buying the secret deal jive.  The White Sox are atrocious and if another team offers him more dough, I say it's a no-brainer he takes it without so much as a second thought.

I don't see him giving the Phillies a hometown discount nor do I see them offering him a big contract.  Not with Bourn & Victorino standing there waiting to take over centerfield from him, anyway.

I want the Phillies to re-sign him because he's not only a good player, he's also a good influence in the clubhouse.  That said, I don't see the bargain-basement ownership doing anything to re-up him.

Tampering?  I doubt this is more than throwing mud on the wall to see what sticks.

That said, I think that it is most likely that Rowand does want to go back to the White Sox.

i guess its still tampering but rowand is an equal participant in the matter

they need to lose him anyway and spend every last one of their dollars on pitchers

FWIW my uncles best friend is Rowands neighbor, says rowand is the best neighbor you could ever have.  Rowand loves it here, loves his house/the area/the fans.  That said,  :deion C.R.E.A.M. :deion

I don't think that $10 will get them much, Igy.

Miller doesn't like the Phillies and the players don't like him, so take his stuff with a grain of salt...
