At least the Nationals do, too.

And, hey, Utley's up first!  Who would have thought it?

It was worth staying up to see that game winning blast from Howard.

You can see Schneider just turn and walk away.  He knew it was over.  :-D

farging losers, still.

2 games back of wild card, but 3 teams to pass. in it to win it. champions of 2nd place. wooo son.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

yeah it really is amazing how its the same story over again to a tee...and yet people still think they can make the playoffs...i dont get it...

and actually this year is even less of a chance that they make it as there are more good teams in the national league than there has been in the other years theyve come up short

I'm still drunk after last night.   :D

What a titanic shot Howard hit to end it.  Jesus. . .

PS: Alfonseca is going to kill them sooner or later.  Thank God he imploded in a win.

The problem IGY is we all want to see them win, most people get sucked in every year, but all should expect them to come up just short in the race but well enough in the owners pockets.  It's sickening, ive never hated a team so much.  They just do enough to fill the seats every friggin year

They'll probably end up 10 games over .500 again like always and miss the playoffs by 2 games. It is true that there are better teams in the NL this year than in year's past -- especially in the NL West where 3 teams could end up with a better record than the Phils -- possibly.

Everyone is saying that the magic number is 90, but I think they may have to aim higher than that. Maybe 92. Essentially, they have to go 38-24 or 40-22 the rest of the way, meaning that they pretty much have to win every series (take 2 out of 3) from here on out (since it is roughly a 2 to 1 ratio from here).

Can they do it? Maybe not. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy any run that they do make and root like they can do it. Ultimately we might be disappointed, but as long as they are in the race I feel obligated to root. It is getting to the point of masochism.

i told myself last year i wouldnt do it again and i did...but after the rain delay game i went to in DC last year...the 11:30pm start or whatever time it was...where they choked that game and series i said never again until the team goes thru real changes....you cant keep bringing back the same players same manager and expect things to change

i want them to win...but if they were 20 games under .500 right now id want them to win and still watch every game and cheer for them...but the fact is this year they cant and wont win...this year is not in any way shape or form different from the last three years...same players same team same manager in a league with a deeper pool of competition...i guess i understand how people can get sucked in again because i did it myself for a few years but now that im out of that i can see witha  clear vision how ridiculous all the believers are now...its an epiphany of sorts...its rather enjoyable actually

i had to listen to that game driving up 95 after a 20 hour day and i wanted to kill charlie manuel...this is why they won't make the playoffs

2 men on, no outs, your #5 hitter up and you have him BUNT!?

Dobbs on first, no outs, Rollins up, and you let him hit away, when you are on your last bullpen pitcher?

worst.  manager.  ever.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

the 9th inning annoyed me too.  Gordon was warming with a 2-run lead and he brings in Alfonseca instead....then when Alf Fs up again, he doesn't bring in Romero....he doesn't bring in Gordon....he brings in Zagurski!  Zagurski obviously gets rocked since this guy can't handle pressure situations, so they yank him out after 1 batter....and again they pass on Romero and Gordon....this time for Mesa!  :boom
