Getting Gagne and returning Myers to the rotation makes perfect sense.

Therefore, no way it happens.  Ever.

A 31 year old power pitcher who hasn't pitched an entire season in about 4 years?

Yeah...sign him up. Leiber, Gordon, and Myers need a 4th for their DL Poker game,

How's he pitching now, genius?

I don't care how he is pitching right now.

He's a closer on a bad team. Do you know how many times he's pitched a full inning on back to back days? Three times. And once he gave up 2 runs on day two. A team in contention (which the phillies wont be) needs a guy that can throw 4 of 6 days. Gagne is not that guy, especially in what the Rangers are asking for him.

What do you think the Rangers would want for him?  Victorino?  Is Victorino really not worth a closer?  I guess it depends on if the Phillies think they have any shot at all.  If not, just try to move Rowand for a prospect.

I submitted a "fact" to Cole Hamels Facts and they posted it:

It's #10 on the newest 20 list.

ice grillin you

victorino for gagne would be beyond moronic and im not a huge victorino fan

the phils would be making a huge mistake if at the deadline they are anything but sellers

I wouldn't trade Victorino for anyone other than a top flight pitching prospect and Gagne doesn't fit that bill.

Gagne is pitching like his old self again in Texas, though, and he would certainly be better than anyone the Phillies have, especially if acquiring him meant that Myers would be moved back to the rotation where he belongs.

ice grillin you

even with a closer the phillies arent good enough to make the playoffs...and ill believe myers will be healthy again this year when i see it...it certainly doesnt make me wanna be a buyer at the deadline

the closer position on this team is so overrated right now...everyone acts like they have had a hundred blown saves this year...the problem is they cant even get to the closer when they need to...the starters suck and dont go deep which means a longer road the middle relievers have to travel to get to the 9th inning

the phillies are done...get what you can for rowand and move onto to another .500 season next year

Who gives a shtein if the season's over or not?  If they can improve the ballclub by signing a first-rate reliever and move Myers back to where he belongs, then they should do so.  If they can trade for a front-line starter and not give up the farm, then they should do so.

Just because the 2007 season might be over that's no reason to stop trying to improve the team.   I mean, I don't mind reading negative shtein about this team because they've definitely deserved it.  But giving up on this season and NEXT season is ridiculous, IGY.  That's defeatism at its worst in my opinion.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

mpmcgraw

Losing Bourn would not deplete our farm system at all, mainly because he sucks.

MDS

I wouldn't say he sucks, rather, he's just not very good.

Don Ho

any one watching tonight?  sure is quiet.  Padre announcers are driving me nuts.  Love Tony Gwynn but his voice is so fricken high.  i think he is just a guest as this is Tony Gwynn weekend in San Diego.  Don't know who the other clown is.  Last night Matt Vasgersian was in the booth.  He's the voice of MLB The Show.  He is actually pretty good.
