I think I already posted that I got a new scanner and that it scans negatives. Well I saved all my negatives from photo class in high school and scanned a few of them in the other day. Trip down memory lane...

Yep, the fact that it takes AA batteries was a huge plus for me. I already have a few Lithium Ion AAs with a charger, so I didn't need another one. And I tend to by AA batteries in bulk, so I always have some of them around.

I haven't taken any night shots yet. I had it (and a tripod) with me last night, hoping to stop and shoot some after my tai chi class...but nothing caught my eye.

Cool beans with the neg scanner, mussa.   :yay

I know there's a few with the S3IS, so I thought I'd share this.  I picked this up off of ebay, and I'm pretty happy with it so far.  The converter tube/hood is nicer than the plastic Canon version, and the other stuff is pretty good quality.  Not a bad way to extend the use of the camera if you have a spare $70 to burn.

Rome

I took a shot of the new bar they just built at the stadium here in Daytona last night.  Considering the rest of the stadium is pretty much a toilet, I was very surprised that they did such a nice job on this...

Here's the opposite view of the field from where I was standing... it kind of reminds me of the Tiki Bar at the Phillies stadium in Clearwater...

It's a camera phone, Dio.  The optics suck.

Zanshin...how does that tube/lens thing fit on? Does it just slide onto the camera's lens assembly? I don't see any threads anywhere...

FWIW, I looked up waterproof (underwater) cases for my camera, because I'd like to take it with me to Mexico when I vacation there. The case, though, is $600! I guess I'll have to stick with disposables for underwater snapshots.

It's a bayonet fit-- there's a small button under the lens-- push it and there's a ring that comes off the front of the camera when you align the dots.  The adapter fits on the same way.  Perfect fit-- nice and tight.  And the other lenses/filters thread into that.

Gotcha. Guess I should RTFM...   :-[

I'm with you.  I sort of figured it out on the fly when I had to.

A church near us had a big event today, followed by a fireworks display. We sat in the back yard and had adult beverages to watch. Since I had the camera nearby, I took a lot of shots, with mixed results. Here are a couple of the better ones.

While I was at it, I experimented with some shots of the backyard pool while my nieces were playing in it. Fighting with the focus system sucks...but the result wasn't too bad, I guess.

so what do you camera nerds think of the canon A550 camera?  i need to buy a new one because my old kodak digital pictures look like shtein.  i don't take that many pictures, but i'm going on a trip for a little bit, so i'm going the cheap route with this one, but it looks like it has really good reviews anywhere i look.  any of you guys ever have this one?
