I wanted the Rangers to draft this kid because he's a can't-miss quote. And, boy, did he begin his pro career with a bang.

Beavan, sporting a THIS IS WHY I'M HOT T-shirt for the special occasion, said his buddies often talked about him being a Ranger during trips to the ballpark in Arlington.

"I'm always like, 'Man, put me out there,'" Beavan said. "'I can do just as bad as those guys. I can go out there and give up runs.'"

I'm sure the current Rangers starters will thank the kid for his support. Beavan expects to crack that rotation soon.

"I think I'm gonna move up quick," Beavan said, "and I'm gonna change that ERA around, too."

Beavan, who refers to the Rangers GM as "Ol' JD," said he's ready to sign as soon as the Rangers make the right offer.

"Hopefully they'll come to their senses and realize what they're getting," he said.

A 17-year-old foster girl living with a relative of Elijah Dukes told police the Devil Rays outfielder got her pregnant.

Detectives believe the sex was consensual and no crime was committed, but the incident has sparked a state investigation into the foster home.

Police say an anonymous tip prompted them to look into the matter. In May, investigators went to the West Tampa home of Dukes' step-grandmother, Johnnie Johnson, according to Tampa police reports.
Johnson told police that the teen girl, whose name was not released, lived in Johnson's foster home until she turned 18 in April.

Johnson said she learned of the pregnancy about two weeks before the teen left the home.

The girl, expected to give birth Nov. 5, told investigators she and Dukes had consensual sex on the living room sofa. She said Dukes got angry when she and another person confronted him about the pregnancy.

"Yeah, we sat down and told him and he got mad and threw a Gatorade at me," she told investigators.

Last week, during John Maine's start, the Mets hit back-to-back-to-back HRs off Hamels, and Lo Duca flipped the bat on the 3rd one...

Tonight, the Dodgers took Maine deep back-to-back-to-back....and the 3rd one was from a Korean pitcher that flipped the bat! 

The Mets announcers were pissed and said it lacked class. hmmmmm
