Michael Nutter is the projected winner of the Philadelphia Mayoral race.

I didn't vote for him but I look at it this way, he can't be worse than Street.

I take it he won. He was practically a shoe-in with his celebrity status as a judge at the Vet. My buddy Joe is his nephew.

It's still too close...but he's in the lead.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - May 16, 2007 - Pennsylvania voters have said "no deal" to lower property taxes in return for higher local income taxes.

In 142 school districts reporting results of their tax-shift referendums early today, voters in only three appear to have accepted the trade-off. That's according to returns posted early Wednesday on a Department of State Web site.
The 142 represent more than 25 percent of the state's school districts.

The proposed tax shift was touted by the Rendell administration as a chance for homeowners to increase the size of the property-tax cuts they will receive once the state distributes slot-machine gambling revenue to school districts.

But voters weren't interested.

Chuck Ardo, a spokesman for Governor Ed Rendell, says opposition likely reflected voter confusion.

However, according to documents released by the Pa. Department of State, results in Bucks County show that voters in Bristol Borough have approved the measure by 1 vote: 806 to 805.

Awesome. Uh, Chuck...there was no confusion. The tax proposal sucked. Tell Ed to stay the hell out of our pockets. He can go have a reach-around with the Bristol (and Bedford and Reading) voters, howevers. It appears they like to be fondled before they bend over for a tax hike.
