I think Mike Stanton broke into the big leagues the same year "The Hustler" premiered in 1961.

Glad you used the Paul Newman picture and not the knucklehead Tom Cruise.

You sure it was 61?  I thought it came out in 59.  ???

1961.  Thank god I can say it was before I was born.  You know you are getting old when they show that segment at the Academy Awards honoring those that passed away during the year from the movie industry and you say "Hey I remember seeing him/her in that movie."

i wonder if that gets choke dog out of his horrible slump...it was a meaningless shot but sometimes its something like that that breaks you out of a funk...be interesting to see how his at bats are next series in more important situations
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Maybe, maybe not.  His swing is getting better and even the Reds announcers made mention to that earlier in the game about how he was basically pulling his lead foot in spring training and early in the season and now he's keeping that foot in front of him during his swing.  

Of course, he's still being fooled by some pitches so him cleaning up his mechanics isn't going to help him identify pitches better or give him better plate discipline.  But it'll help.

no.....at least not yet....hes in now to try to get his arm acclimated to being in a relief role by pitching on back to back days...three of four...ect....
