i didn't think he should've been in the game at that point anyway...105 pitches on opening day?

Myers challenged Renteria and lost.  You could see on the replay his head snapping as if he was trying to get every last bit of juice he had left into that pitch.  He wanted the strikeout, he wanted to pump the crowd up as he left the mound and his aggressiveness bit him in the ass.

Honestly, the way Myers pitched yesterday was great aside from the two mistakes he made to Renteria & McCann.  Considering the number of opportunities the hitters had to blow that shtein open, Myers is hardly #1 on the blame hit list.

perhaps but he lost the lead because of a mental mistake not a physical one

who am i kidding tho even if he gets out of the 7th madsen loses the game in the 8th instead of the 10th

myers in the daily news today....

"Like I said before, I feel like these fans are my family," Myers said. "Family never gets on family."

exactly...and you dont challenge someone on an 0-2 count...you throw a slider in the dirt...or high heat and hope he chases up the ladder...or hell throw it against the backstop...

that was not a time to show your manhood and grove a fastball down the middle...you do that on a 3-2 count and a runner on first...inexcusable and it completely negates anything else he did in the game

possibly, but the mistake was made in the bottom of the 7th, when he let Myers bat.  it's somewhat safe to assume that a pinch hitter would walk as well because Gonzalez was not close in that at-bat.  if you have a faster runner on first, he scores on Jimmy's double and you have a 2-run cushion for Madsen in the 8th.

although, if you tell me that there are men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and 2, 3, 4 coming up, I'd say you're going to get at least one run.

either way, it shouldn't have been a one run game going into the 8th.

Myers, in hindsight obviously, should have thrown a slider, hard curve or a splitter to Renteria. However, he had gotten him out on fastballs late in counts earlier and he had been dipping into the off-speed stuff to other batters so perhaps he thought Renteria would have been sitting split or something else. I had no problem with a fastball there though...his location was off on it...Barajas was set outside and it tailed back in.

I also agreed with letting him go out for the 8th. He was dealing and he is the ace. Too much is made of pitchcounts. He was in the low 90's when he took the mound in the 8th, right? If he's PH for and then Madson comes in Charlie is killed for  removing a guy who was throwing well and going to the shtein ass bullpen.

It amazes me how over analytical some Phils fans are. The hatred for Uncle Charlie comes out and they just rip away instead of realizing that the game was lost because of the players not getting runs in. Howard's defensive farg up also extended the inning in the 9th allowing the top of the order to come up in the 10th.

I also heard that Myers got distracted on that pitch because he saw a hottie in the stands that he was getting fist boners over.

I knew they were going to lose. It's pretty much a safe bet.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Stop being so over analytical.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

charlie is an abortion of a manager

howard is a hack

these things are just the way it is as long as those people remain in the positions they are

but myers mistake was 100% avoidable...it was either a complete mental breakdown...a lack of knowledge....or stubborn ignorance...and because of that...whether you agree it was the most costly mistake in the game it was easily the most indefensible
