All I can say is I can't wait until we go into New England this upcoming season and get annihilated and Stallworth has 200 yard receiving. I can't wait to see the look on Andy and the rest of the FO's face.

I only hope it is the first game of the season, because I don't want the Eagles to start out 3-0 against crap competition with the "I told you so" smug attitude. I want the tough games to be in the beginnign and end of the schedule, so they can't make another mirage playoff run and can't start out the season bragging.

I'm sure the last time someone said something like that, they were predicting Owens would burn the secondary for multiple 100 yard and multiple TD games and it didn't happen.  As for them "playing tough games at the beginning and end of the schedule", everyone seemed to be predicting last season a tough three game road trip against the NFC East--how'd that work out? A lot of things can happen before and during the season that can change the fortunes of teams.

At this point it is so laughable it is almost like they are doing this on purpose to spite the fans. Ron farging Dayne? You can't be serious. You'd rather have him than Dillon, Brown, or Buck even?

What the farg is going on?

Dillon still wants to be an every-down back--that's why he wanted out of New England. Is he going to get more than 150 carries with the Eagles? Not with Westbrook healthy--and in another thread I wrote that events happen that can change the fortune of teams--but still, if Westbrook stays healthy, he's not going to get more than 5-8 carries a game.

I don't understand what the infatuation with Chris Brown is. He is too much of an upright runner, has an injury history only beaten by Buckhalter, and he fumbles too much. Why doo you think that the Titans made the deal to get Henry?

Buckhalter has said he wants more than 83 carries in a season.

The thing is, there isn't much out there--you have the above three and players like Stephen Davis, Jamal Robertson, LaBrandon Toefield, Dee Brown--that's it as far as RBs go.

As far as the draft, it's looking like the Eagles will use one of their day 1 picks on a WR--that leaves the other two for defense--and they need more help on defense than they need on offense at this point.

I'm not a huge fan of Dillon or Brown either, but here is the thing. Brown, while not that great, is better than Dayne and has had 1,000 yard season under his belt. He has been unable to stay healthy, but when he is, shows promise of a quality back.

Dillon wants to be a featured back, but no one will make him one. So ultimately he is either going to have to share the load or retire. No team in their right minds would make him a featured back.

Ron Dayne is just garbage. He sucked in NY, was average in Denver, and was average in Houston. He has never shown potential to do anything, and can't receive out of the backfield at all. I'd rather just keep Buck.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

I'm not rooting for the Patriots to beat us or Stallworth to rip us apart. Maybe I should've been clearer. What I meant was, I can't wait until after the game when they annihilate us what Andy's reaction would be. I'm not rooting for us to lose, I just am looking forward to their excuses.

But, you are right. Nothing is set in stone. Still... we have a poor record against AFC teams. Especially the good ones. I don't see much left that can be done to improve this team other than the draft. Hope I'm wrong though.

I don't understand what the infatuation with Chris Brown is.

no infatuation he would only be a BACK UP RB and would be a nice one

He is too much of an upright runner, has an injury history

to lower the chance of injuries he will be a BACK UP RB

Why doo you think that the Titans made the deal to get Henry?

because they wanted henry to be their starting rb and chris brown to be their BACK UP RB

I think his failure in Denver is the real telling point - Shanahan had to finally admit that he couldn't just plug any running back in and get 1,000 yards.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

QuoteRB Dayne Visits As Eagles Address Backfield

March 15, 2007
By BOB KENT

While the Eagles wait for free-agent receiver Kevin Curtis to decide where he wants to play football next season, the team turns its attention to the backfield Thursday as it plays host to free-agent running back Ron Dayne.

A former Heisman Trophy winner, Dayne will meet with coaches and team personnel at the NovaCare Complex and will then meet the media at 3:30 PM. We'll have complete coverage here on PhiladelphiaEagles.com.

At 5-foot-10, 243-pounds, Dayne would add some much-needed bulk to the Eagles backfield and provide a nice change of pace from versatile playmaker Brian Westbrook.

A seven-year veteran, Dayne is coming off his best season in five years. In 11 games with the Houston Texans, Dayne rushed for 612 yards on 151 carries, including five touchdowns. He added a career-high 14 receptions for 77 yards. His 4.1 yards per carry average was the second-highest of his career.

The Texans are reportedly interested in re-signing Dayne, yet Thursday's visit certainly indicates that Dayne is exploring other options.

A former first-round pick of the Giants, Dayne is no stranger to the Eagles or the NFC East. In New York he played "thunder" to Tiki Barber's "lightning." He rushed for 770 yards in helping the Giants to the Super Bowl as a rookie. He followed that up with a productive 2001 campaign in which he rushed for 690 yards on 180 carries, including a career-high seven touchdowns.

Dayne's stint with the Giants ended after five seasons. He spent the 2005 season with the Denver Broncos. Playing behind the likes of Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell, Dayne averaged a career-high 5.1 yards per carry on a mere 53 carries.

In Philadelphia, Dayne would likely fill a situational role behind Westbrook, who emerged as the team's featured back last season which he capped off with his first 1,000-yard rushing season.

Dayne has played in 83 career games and has rushed for 2,949 yards and 22 touchdowns on 789 carries.

A three-time All-American at the University of Wisconsin, Dayne is a native of South Jersey.

Guarantee he's signed by the end of today.   :'(

Dayne has 3 things going for him better than Buckhalter at least:

blocking
left knee
right knee

He's also a more stereotypical "big back".  I'm trying to see him possibly signing as a positive somehow.

SunMo

he doesn't run like a big back...when somebody says "big back" to me, i think of a guy who can pick up a tough 3rd and 1, which Dayne proved he can't do.

obviously this is Andy's master plan to get us to applaud when he throws the ball on 3rd and 1
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Right - hand to Dayne a few times on 3rd and short... he fails every time... fans soon yearn for the fade pattern.

It's genius.  A credit to the FO for devising the plan.
