Holy Christ, he's Simoneau... always "around" the ball, but never AT the ball.

QuoteSo the upgrade begins with a young player you may not know much about, but one you may learn about very, very quickly.

It's shtein like this that makes me irrate. How does someone without an ounce of writing talent, creativity or football insight make a living out of writing exclusively about football? farg him.

I've dismissed him as a puppet on Luries strings who wouldn't question anything the Eagles do even if you had a gun pointed at his head. I'd bet he has his own personal line of knee pads at Lowe's. Next week you'll see him hawking K-Y on Sunday morning infomercials.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

$4M for Ryan Fowler.

$3.6M for Donte Stallworth.

Got it.

Who gives a shtein what Spadaro said? He gets paid by the Eagles. If you got paid to be around football for a living you would write their fluff too.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Good special teams player, pretty good against the run, good size. He does manage to get decent penetration behind the line of scrimmage and is usually a good tackler. Kind of quick, but not very fast, not that great in coverage. According to one guy that breaks down the video of Cowboys games, Fowler was the one that blew the coverages on the fullbacks during the Saints and Falcons games when the Cowboys defense suddenly let unheralded players take their turns playing Roger Craig. (His analysis, my Craig analogy)

Oh, in those pictures you posted the player holding the football is Dat Nguyen, not Fowler.

I could understand the contract if he had a real shot at a starting job, but not with Trotter around. Give the guy a decent payday up front and if he pans out you can renegotiate. If he doesn't, you've still got a decent backup and good ST player for a few years. Unless Trotter's having some physical problems though, I just can't imagine him being beaten out by this guy. Someone mentioned him playing SAM, but I can't say I ever remember him playing outside.

Trivia: His mother was born in Teheran. (I think before the revolution though.)

QB Eagles

Do we have some confirmation on that $4 million guaranteed first-year number? All I know is that his own agent said he "stands to make" that much.

I think everyone noticed that, but look at the arm behind him...the guy away from the play again...

I do remember he set some sort of record at the combine a few years ago, so that's something.

I don't know about an all time record, but I know he had 33 or 34 reps at the bench. Maybe that was the most among the linebackers that year?

Could be it's one of those incentive based deals where he makes so much for earning a starting job or something. It's also possible that he'll have his base salary guaranteed for this year along with a small signing bonus. Say he had a $2M base salary and a $2M signing bonus. His base salary for the remaining three years could be like $2.2M. If he weren't worth keeping him around after 2007, you could cut him and regain some cap room. If he doesn't pan out as a starter but is a worthy backup/ST ace, he makes about $2M per for a few years with a cap hit under $3M. With the cap going up every year, that's not bad.
