Pet project? In his second year?

What's the point of drafting anymore? The Eagles should just trade away all their picks and make a bunch of Rookie FA signings come the Monday after the draft and just groom those players for the NFL. Save a bunch of cap room!

What is even more disheartening is seeing how many rookies made impacts throughout the league last season and played very well in their first season in the league -- yet the Eagles seem perfectly content with drafting raw talent in the first round.

NGM

I might have to ignore the Eagles threads on this board until the first game thread of next year.  This shtein is so farging infuriating.

The BIGSTUD

It absolutely is. I won't spend a dime on this team again until they prove they have a real plan to get this team over the hump.

Free Agency has just started. Relax. The same crap was being said last year until they signed Stallworth.

all the great players sign right before the season!
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Munson

Everyone's too busy dissing Spards article and misisng the most important part of it.

Jeremy Bloom was mentioned in the return game...and not ONE word about Reno Mahe.

He just may finally be gone.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Eaglez

From Spads article that everyone is quoting it seems like Spadaro thinks that the Eagles, by signing all their younger players to contract extensions, constitutes the extent of their "free agency period."

I like this quote: "In case you don't understand where the Eagles have spent their salary-cap dollars, let's review. In the last 10 months or so, they have signed the following players to long-term contracts: Shawn Andrews, Jamaal Jackson, Brian Dawkins, Reggie Brown, Mike Patterson, Trent Cole and Todd Herremans. Additionally, the Eagles have signed A.J. Feeley, Quintin Mikell and Juqua Thomas. Got it? Now tell me which of those players are you not happy to have for the long term?"

I could probably have done without extending Patterson and Herremans right now if that meant locking up Stallworth and making a run at trying to woo a LB like Adalius Thomas on the team. I like Herremans, but the OL depth isn't too big of a concern right now and I wouldn't make it a priority to lock him up right now. The 3 most recent signings aren't exactly bank breaking extensions -- so throwing those in just gives the illusion that the Eagles are really trying to improve the team "at all costs."

I'm going to try and not get too excited until something happens or doesn't happen. Every year at this time it's the same ole' same ole'. All the neggie's bash the FO until a FA signing, trade, or something no one saw coming happens in the draft. That type of predictable behavior is becoming quite borish.

It was the same thing before the season started when the NFC East was supposed to be sooo good and the Eagles had no chance.

I'll admit, I would like to have seen them go after an Adalius Thomas, but I'm not passing judgment until it's all said and done.

If the season starts without Stallworth or another decent reciever, and no signing of a LB, Dlineman, or Dback, then I'll be in line to bitch and moan.

From Spads article

I couldn't get past the "if McNabb comes back healthy" part.

Your optimism would be refreshing if I didn't want to punch you so badly.

Is my optimism refreshing?
