a guy i know saw a sneak preview of 300 and gave this review...i havent even seen it and i can tell you this review is spot on....

I'm no historian, so I won't bother trying to tell you what they got right or wrong.
Basically, it is what is advertised. It's two or so hours of bad-assery, scenery-chewing and loads of combat. If that's what you want to see, you'll be happy. If you don't want to see that and are expecting a history lesson, I'm assuming you should just shut the brain down and watch the blood-letting unfold.
There's more to appreciate here than in Frank Miller's Sin City.
Even with its own independent history for anyone to see, most film-goers are going to walk out thinking its a Gladiator knockoff. The dialogue is pretty standard, with the main character just yelling out "Tonight, we dine in hell" lines throughout. The only thing missing was him saying, "What we do in life echoes in eternity!"
The flick's geek cool, which means there's a lot of imagery that will make hardcore fans happy and its style is impressive. Be prepared to have some avid fan of the material that Miller did, sitting behind you and laughing a little too hard at lines because he's trying to show you how much he has invested in it.
There's a couple of violent scenes that are cringe-worthy, but much of it is painted with black blood that looks so cartoony that it won't make the ladies you're with squirm too much.

As a big screen watch, it's worth it, if only because television won't do it much justice. It's not a classic, but it's worth a watch.

...except you said you wouldn't be worth a watch, and ultimately, the decision to watch or not watch a movie is much more important than any of the other nuances of the review.

except you said you wouldn't be worth a watch

never

i said i woudlnt see it in the theater but id def netflix it...i said it was one long fight scene with lots of cartoon blood and was geared towards the geek squad....in other words i might as well have written that review

and the review you said you could have written says it's definitely worth a watch on the big screen

Sgt PSN

Maggie Gyllenhaal

She's good looking in that "Kirsten Dunst has the Downs" kind of way.  I'd still hit it though.

no thanks. saggy is an appropriate word in more ways than just her tits. she's butt. decent body, but nothing to build a shrine too or anything.

We've already established that most of her sexiness isn't anything you can capture in a picture.

I wouldn't expect simple folk to get it.

i wouldn't expect the average dude to get it.

Phreak- Have you ever seen The Changeling? It's an old ('77, I believe) George C. Scott ghost story. The obligatory '70's cheesy effects in spots, but, creepy in it's own right.

No, I haven't. But I will be on the lookout. Thanks for the tip. :yay

"Borat"

Some funny moments, some cringe-worthy moments, some of both.  Still, I don't see where this movie can be described as one of the best comedies of all time.  It's about 75 minutes long, and it still feels like it would be better suited for a cable TV show than a feature film.

3/5.
