Apparently Jake Plummer was traded to Tampa. Looks like its Oaktown for Garcia.

...or Denver.

Wait, are you saying that linebackers are supposed to make plays in the back field?   Like, where the quarterback hangs out until he finds an open receiver?

I don't even know anymore.  It's been so long since I can remember an Eagles linebacker doing that.

Rome

An Eagles linebacker's job is merely to "compete out there," not make actual plays.

You guys know that.   Come on.

I would think that with a choice between starting Oakland and being a backup in Philly with a good chance of getting playing time, he'd probably want to come back. The funnies part is that the Eagles completely closed the door on him making any decision like that. Nice job, FO.

I don't blame the FO for this at all.  Yes, Garcia gave the team a glimpse of two things they haven't really had in the McNabb/Reid era: balancing the offense and emotional leadership at the QB position.  But with McNabb and all his injury problems, they need two things from the QB position: a capable backup and a QB of the future.  Feeley was already under contract and is a capable backup.  Obviously, neither he nor Garcia would be a true QB of the future.  This way, they have a roster spot open to pick up a kid and see how he does.

Letting Garcia get his dollars elsewhere is a decision I support completely.  Re-upping Feeley is questionable, but the price is cheap, and it keeps the team solid at backup QB and allows for a complete project at the 3rd QB spot.

thats what im saying...again i could care less about garcia...but the way the team does business sometimes is baffling...why re-up feely before garcia hits the market and possibly doesnt find what hes looking for and you have an opportunity to bring him back at your price

thats all i was saying with lewis too...perhaps he goes out and doesnt get the huge offers he thought he would...not saying that would happen but if it did the eagles eliminated any option they might have had to bring him back by destroying their relationship with him

now...if mcnabb isnt ready and feely stinks or god forbid gets hurt and if considine continues to show he doesnt belong in the nfl the what are the other options?

timmy chang and quinten mikell???

i'm ok with letting Lewis go ONLY if they draft a safety in the 1st round.  if they don't do that, and Considine is the starting safety, this team is in trouble.

Estimates vary, but the Eagles appear to have about $6.5 million to spend after deducting roughly $3 million being slotted for incoming rookies and draft picks. If defensive end Juqua Thomas come to terms today, as expected, there may be even less cash available.

PLUMMER RETIRES

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer has retired in lieu of being traded to Tampa.

Word of the trade broke earlier this morning, but recent published reports suggested that Plummer might pack it in.

Plummer has played 10 NFL seasons.  We have a weird feeling that, after a year or so on the sidelines, he might be lured back.  The Cardinals, for example, will need a backup after Kurt Warner retires, and it would be fitting for Plummer to end his career there.

Well, looks like Garcia has a better option suddenly.

right its all about what your plan b is...most years there are only a few players on your team that you would really care about leaving...the real concerns come with what you are you replacing the guys with

like feva said if the eagles were gonna draft calvin johnson...or were crazy deep at wr then would anyone really care about stallworth leaving?

That's why I get mad when people bring up players that were let go and didn't perform in other places, like that's a win for the FO.  What you have to look at is who they were replaced with.  When they let Trotter go, they weren't able to adequately replace him until he came back.  Same with Hugh, they let him go and their pass rush was awful.  It's not always about what that specific player does somewhere else, it's about what you replace him with.
