Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Nah...found it corny and forced. The only part of the movie I found remotely funny was the 'porch monkey' reference. I mentioned it before, but they should have kept it black and white and centered the film around every day dialogue associated with being a convenience store clerk. Making it a love story in a fast food restaurant was a bad idea.

I bought the DVD off Amazon thinking I'd like it, wound up giving it away to my buddy, who gave it away to someone else.

I watched The Butterfly Effect on FX last night.  I was impressed with Kyle Korver's ability to step out of his typical movie role into something more serious.  Overall I thought the movie was good and had some decent visual effects.  I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

Yeah, I was surprised at not completely hating that movie when I saw it, too.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off was on over the weekend too.  So I watched it for the gazillionth time and it never gets old.  Great movie.

I just returned Charlie and the Chocolate factory without watching it.  Had it for about 3 weeks.  I'm one of the only people I know who thought the first was was stupid, so seeing the remake just didn't interest me at all.

I loved the original Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I was a big Roald Dahl fan when I was a kid.

The remake was meh. Depp was creepy and over the top and I'm pretty sure Tim Burton has flat out lost his mind.

not exactly...i was saying that a legit bet would be whether it makes more than sin city...as opposed to you originally putting it on a LOTR/gladiator money level

it is getting way more advertising than sin city ever got...so perhaps it will beat it



the og charlie was and still is a great movie....i tried to watch the remake and it was horrid...there was absolutely no reason to remake a movie as good as the original

What I said was that it would be 'closer to LOTR than Sin City'. It would have to make $193mil domestically for that to happen. (Sin City made ~$74mil. Fellowship of the Rings made ~$313mil.)

It probably won't do that, but I would bet that it makes significantly more than Sin City without hesitation.
