christ almighty, all the democrats have to do is run a white male and they'll win the election.  however, that seems too easy for them.

Exactly. The country isn't going to elect a woman or a black man.

Vote for Joe Biden, give the dems a chance.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Senator Bill Clinton?

QuotePolitical analysts say a Senate seat for Bill would go a long way toward solving a potentially nettlesome problem for Hillary — what to do with her husband if they return to the White House. The former president currently maintains an office in Harlem and a home with his wife in Chappaqua, N.Y.

"Nothing will solve the Bill problem entirely," Sabato said. "He will be restless and underfoot for Hillary, in part because he is the more talented pol."

There would also be financial ramifications.

"It would certainly lower the family income because there are restrictions on how much a senator can bring in on speeches and so forth," said presidential scholar Stephen Hess of George Washington University. "Of course he'd have housing, because she'd put him up in the Lincoln Bedroom or something."

That isn't unprecedented:

- John Quincy Adams served in the House of Representatives after his presidency, serving from 1831 until his death 17 years later.

- Andrew Johnson, after a failed attempt of being appointed to the Senate (Senators were then chosen by state legislatures) and elected to the house, was appointed Senator in 1874.  He only served a few months before his death in July of 1875.

The democratic party is already doing everything in its power to lose this election. The two leading candidates are a woman that most people cannot relate to in any way, and a man of arab decent.

What the farg is wrong with them? I have nothing against a woman or someone who isn't white running, but why do this now? When they have all of the momentum? Just put someone in there who isn't going to piss off/scare ignorant people and they win in a farging cake walk. Now they have to go and make it interesting? Christ.

it's quite obvious that you used your Donnie Darko powers, jumped to today, read my post, and went back to your life on January 25th and posted that before I could.

my only problem with the whole deal is that you said you have nothing against women.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Off-The-Cuff Prediction:

A viable third party will be established in the next 30 years.  Of course, it will only be a third party for a few years before one of the two current parties disbands and/or joins the new third party.

No, but Hillary's going to go ahead and play it that way anyway to justify going on the attack against him.

Diomedes

The demand that Obama repudiate Geffen for speaking his mind is textbook spineless democratic politicking.

Both sides of the aisle are guilty of spineless faux-offensive campaigns.

Diomedes

yeah, but this particular brand of whining for an opponent to censure a third party is uniquely democratic.  a republican would just outright blast both Geffen and Obama, and get some friends to do the same.

I wish that I could believe that this is even a little bit possible.

nah not positive. Once politos realize we're sick of the same shtein they'll create a new party with new grand ideals. We'll all get caught up in the national debate and get behind something new and sexy before we realize it's the same pile of shtein in a different package. Kind of like the difference between the two parties now...

That was pretty much my point.  A viable third party will be created, and within a few years take the place of one of the current two major parties, much like the Republicans evolved to take the place of the Whigs in the 1850s.
