im too nice for that so what i will do is make a low stakes bet on whether its bigger than sin city or not...because thats the realistic wager here....obviously i have the under

You're saying that 300 won't make more money than Sin City? IN.

I'm thinking total domestic gross around $115m.  I'm in also.

Truman Show's pretty good. Carey + the storry line overcome some of the iffy acting.

I'm sure some, if not most here have seen The Great Santini...is it worth the rent? I read the book a few years ago and have wanted to see the movie for a while now.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

King Kong - it was ok, could've been great but it was too long and they pushed the envelope in the "suspension of disbelief" department with the dinosaur chase and the insect attack, both could've been left out and made the movie shorter.  the Kong/T-Rex fight was incredible though.

Clerks II - i know a lot of people didn't like it, but i thought it was very good.  Randall was the star of the movie and Elias was great too.

You should definitely rent "Now You Know".  Those two same actors "run" a lawn-mowing business.

I saw a doubleheader at the theater yesterday, Smokin' Aces and Pursuit of Happyness.  You can't really get much different than these two, basically polar opposites.  I liked them both though.

I know Smokin' Aces was getting killed in the reviews but I thought it was pretty awesome.  Basically people getting shot from beginning to end.  No lie, there must be around 100 people killed, either by gun, chainsaw, knife, etc.  Lots of blood and guts.  Good cast, although Jeremy Piven is really the only one who stands out as a good actor.  Anyway, it's definitely worth a watch if you're in the mood for a straight shoot 'em up action movie.  And Alicia Keys is hot as balls.

Pursuit of Happyness was the polar opposite.  Really depressing and slow moving, which I kind of already knew.  Anyway, not a whole lot to say, it's the dude's life story for the most part, basically a single dad raising his kid through some tough times.  The girls will all be crying by the end, but personally I didn;\'t think it was all that moving since there were no sports involved.  I only get teary eyed at sports movies.  But it was ok, you have to be in the mood for a serious movie though.

I'll give them both 3/5.

BlueHeart

Iron Maiden: A History of Fear... was real excited when I received it in the mail until the opening scene told me it was an unauthorized biography and no Maiden music was allowed to be used.  :boo

If that wasn't bad enough, the whole thing pretty much sucked. Paul Di'Anno told most of the "story", which was cool, I always liked him, along with some guy from a radio station. Dunno how the hell they could call it a "documentary" though. Don't expect to learn anything. And the claim of "actual concert footage" means a few photographs.

1/5... and the 1 is for Di'Anno.
Maybe the voices aren't real, but, they've got some pretty good ideas...

Clerks 2 was possibly the worst piece of shtein ever created.

i agree, i loved clerks but really really hated clerks 2.  randall is the worst actor ever.  he was funny in parts but you can't focus on him as much as 2 did.

Rome

I laughed like hell when I first saw Clerks 2.  It doesn't get better with repeated viewings.

I don't give a shtein, though.  Rosario Dawson is so goddamn hot, I'd watch her read George W. Bush's college transcripts over and over.

Damn straight.

SunMo

i can understand not liking it, but how can you even begin to call it the worst piece of shtein ever created?  there are movies made everyday that are worse than Clerks 2, the ridiculous exaggeration is what is getting me.

SD...i would have thought that you would enjoy the Star Wars/LOTR debate, that was funny shtein.
