Italian wines today.

forgive my intrusion but - mmmmmm, Barolo, Nebbiolo, Brunello and the wines from Piedmonte....Italian Wines are sure tasty...most Chianti Classicos are overrated, though, and IGT classifications can be as good as DOCG. Sicily and Umbria are upcoming areas as better wine-making results from improved vineyard practices.

Riuniti on ice. That's nice!

QuoteMcNabb: 'I've got his back'

By Marc Narducci
Inquirer Staff Writer

Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb doesn't always bare his soul, but there is no hiding his feelings for Andy Reid during the coach's troubled times.

After an appearance for his charitable foundation yesterday at the NovaCare Complex, McNabb spoke to reporters about his rehabilitation from a knee injury, his work with the foundation, and the problems Reid and his family were facing.

Last week, Eagles president Joe Banner said Reid would take a leave of absence until mid-March.

Reid's sons, Garrett and Britt, were arrested in connection with separate traffic incidents on Jan. 30. Garrett, 23, faces misdemeanor drug and traffic charges after an accident in which police said he ran a red light and injured a 55-year-old woman. He admitted to using heroin earlier that day, they said. Britt, 21, also faces criminal charges in an alleged road-rage incident.

McNabb has reached out to Reid to show his support.

"I haven't talked to him as far as the previous weeks," McNabb said. "We have texted each other back and forth."

McNabb said he had left phone messages but wasn't expecting Reid to call him back.

"It was just for him to know I have his back and will continue to pray for him and for him to understand we're in his corner," McNabb said.

The quarterback supports his coach's taking a leave of absence.

"I know Andy is a guy who works extremely hard when it deals with football, but when it comes to family, he loves his family more than anything," McNabb said. "I think it was the right decision."

McNabb said Reid should take as long as he needed.

"If it goes to April, to May, whatever it may be," McNabb said. "The thing for him and for all of us who are parents is you want to make sure your family is OK first. Football is all right, our passion and love, but when you go home and see a smile on your kid's face or your wife's face, that is a better feeling."

As for his own situation, McNabb said he was satisfied with the progress he had made after being injured Nov. 19 in a 31-13 loss to Tennessee.

"The leg is getting stronger," he said. "I was running in the pool and am doing some running on land now."

McNabb said he was being cautious.

"I have somewhat of a limp and am trying to eliminate that, and I think that just comes from not having run in a while," said McNabb, who flew in yesterday morning from his off-season home in Arizona to attend the event. "It's going to come, and [trainer] Rick Burkholder and those guys have been doing a wonderful job of making sure things are right on course."

McNabb reiterated comments he made during Super Bowl week, saying he hopes backup Jeff Garcia, who will be an unrestricted free agent next month, returns. And if McNabb isn't able to return for the start of the season, he said he'd like nothing better than for Garcia to be in the lineup.

"He is a great guy, a great player, and he did great things for this team," McNabb said.

Yesterday's event was supposed to be during the Christmas holidays but was postponed when McNabb got hurt.

It was the second annual "Sunoco 5 Ways to Celebrate With Donovan McNabb" sweepstakes. Sunoco donated $10,000 worth of toys through the Donovan McNabb Foundation. The toys were wrapped and taken afterward to the Mount Zion Community Development Corp. in Philadelphia.

McNabb greeted the 50 sweepstakes winners and their guests, who had their picture taken with him.

There is simply no way they can hold each other accountable enough to win the big one.

For some reason the picture of Reid texting on a cell phone gives me a small chuckle. I wonder if he uses "<3" and omgz!

Right, because that PC was EXACTLY the right time and place to throw his coach under the bus.

LOL - If he was going to pick a time for Evil Donovan to come out, that would have been it.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Even you can't possibly believe that Reid or McNabb will ever throw the other under anything.
