I can't get over this word 'terroristic'

wtf is that?  Is this shteinhead being charged under the "Patriot" Act or something?

Police have used it for years but obviously it didn't get a lot of attention until the terrorist stuff started happening recently.

Its basically threatening to do harm to someone. They just fancy the name of the charge up.

QuoteStu Bykofsky | Blame the Reids? Do you have kids?

AS THE TRAGEDY of the Family Reid unspooled, I was surprised by many compassion-deficit opinions I heard over WIP. Mostly it was the fans, not the hosts.

I suspect their heartlessness is partial payback to Andy Reid. While he's the winningest coach in Eagles history, his gruff personality hasn't generated much fan affection.

As a coach he comes off a little too arrogant, a little too cocksure, a little too "It's my problem and I know how to fix it." A little too much Father Knows Best.

As a man who always stresses the importance of character, Andy now faces the biggest challenge of his life. How he fixes it will say more about him than anything he's ever done on the field.

When the storm broke, "Andy went through every emotion imaginable," someone in Reid's inner circle told me.

Heartbreak, anger, sorrow: I can imagine them all.

Being a parent is THE most important job, we like to say. Most of us - by luck, design or divine guidance - scrape through somehow. Most kids turn out OK because of (or despite) their parents.

Andy and Tammy are good parents, I'm told. Andy was very hands-on during the off-season and gave the kids as much time as he could during the season. "He was as good as he could be," my source said.

Maybe Andy and Tammy indulged their boys, who are now men. Britt and Garrett were known to "abuse" the privileges life had handed them, they were "bullies," someone who has closely observed the Eagles for many years told me.

Whatever parents can do, they can't insulate children from outside influence, and we live in a drug culture.

The Reids are Mormons, which makes me ache for them even more.

Mormons don't curse, they don't drink, not even coffee. They don't smoke, they don't gamble. With drugs reportedly around their two eldest sons, the Family Reid is facing a legal, medical and spiritual crisis.

We all now know son Garrett, 23, was convicted of drug possession (in Utah, in 2002) and allegedly was high on heroin when he ran a red light and struck another car. Suspicious substances were found in the SUV that son Britt, 21, was driving.

"This is a blow to [Andy,]" said my source. "It wouldn't surprise me if he came in and said, 'I'm going to take a year off and take care of my family.' "

The first time my adult son was arrested for DUI, I learned he was in jail from my parents, his grandparents, who wanted to bail him out.

"Don't," I said. "Let him learn his lesson."

"I can't let my grandson stay in jail," my mother wailed. They thought I was kind of heartless and bailed him out.

I gave him the usual lecture about drinking and driving. He gave me the usual impression that he was listening.

His sister, who had the same parents and home environment, was never a problem. They had different friends and, somehow, developed different values.

My son was arrested again for drunk driving. Grandparents bailed him out again. He was lectured again. This was in New York.

The next time he landed in jail it was for threatening a judge in West Virginia. (He had moved, sensing a dim future in New York.)

My son emulates his father by having a big mouth, but he's all brag with no swag. He wouldn't actually have hurt the judge. I knew that. The judge didn't.

I wouldn't bail him out. His grandparents understood his third strike called for tough love, not a bail bondsman. So my only son spent several months in a West Virginia county jail. It was hard for me to take. It was harder for him.

He's been free for a while and seems to be straightening out.

Maybe there's something here Andy and Tammy can use.

He wanted to leave his son in jail overnight. Good.
When his parents bailed his son out he lectured him. Limp wristed horseshtein.

If I spent the night in jail and got nothing but a lecture you can bet your farging ass I'd have continued to misbehave because I knew there were no serious consequences to my actions.

Sounds like the author is a bad parent too. Bad parents unite!

I spent 4 hours in jail when I was 21. I didn't get a lecture or an ass whipping. I got the "have fun getting yourself out of this one and kiss your money goodbye" comment. Those 4 hours taught me my lesson. And the 5K I dropped on bail, fines, etc.

Photoshop anyone?

Tammy and Andy are dying for this.

Not just any lecture either...the "usual" lecture.

Bullies aren't born, they're raised.  Drug culture??  gimme a break.

Piece of trash.  Written by another parent who lays awake at night knowing he was a poor parent, deflecting the guilt by defending another zesty parent.

By the way, I did spend the night in jail when I was in high school. It was a farged up situation that got straightened out later, but my parents were furious and I wasn't allowed to do shtein for the next month until more of the details came out. In fact, they didn't even bother believeing or disbelieveing my side of the story because they didn't care. I had put myself in a position to get arrested (or at the very least, to get in trouble) and they didn't care if the police had overreacted. I paid the fine, the legal fees and my attorney's fees.

As Phreak said, the money was a very effective way to drive the point home, but there was no doubt from the second it happened that getting in trouble was going to have consequences.

QuoteMrs. Reid also told the officer that her son Britt had a handgun, which she believed was legally registered.

THAT is bad parenting

QuoteAccording to Britt Reid, the other driver pulled a gun on him which led him to pullout a flashlight and say he had a gun too. He told Detective Lacy the other driver said he was going to call the police, and he (Reid) drove away.

QuoteBritt Reid changed his story and told these officers that the white male operator of the truck got out and walked up to Reid's passenger door. Reid claimed this man opened Reid's passenger door, yelling profanity. Reid said he got out of the Denali and walked around to the other driver. He said the other driver got back in his truck and it "..appeared to be looking in the truck for a weapon." Reid said he reached behind his seat and pulled out a silver MAG light flashlight, which he flashed at the truck driver to give the impression that it was a gun. In this version, Britt Reid made no mention of the other driver displaying a firearm. According to Britt Reid, the light turned green and both drove away. According to Britt Reid, he never had a handgun with him in the car that day and he never displayed a handgun to the other driver.
