I know it's horribly uncool to say this but I actually feel bad for Andy.  I can't imagine what it must be like to do whatever you can to raise decent children only to have them turn out to be such total pieces of shtein.  I'm sure my parents could relate if they were alive, though.

Yeah, Andy really did 'all he could' to raise his kids right. He only works 14 hours a day, including weekends for 10.5 months a year. Those 90 days off after the season really give him ample time to be the best father anyone has ever seen11111!!!!!111111111!!!!!!11732165gv4 79cyt25r[xtnasdlfj

First of all, those boys should be out on their own. 21 and 24 and still living at home? Please--after I graduated at 17, I was out the door. It is said the older one got kicked out of BYU for drug usage. Second, they're spoiled rotten--Reid brings home what--3-4M after taxes? If you're too lazy to find a job at that age on your own, you need your butt kicked. Incidentally, in my specific job, I work many 12 hour days, my daughter is 15 and while she's not perfect, she does well in school and she doesn't so what many of her friends are doing--mainly smoking, drinking, having sex and smoking weed. You do what you have to do in your chosen profession to support your family.

This is bullshtein. Although I feel bad for any parent who has a idiot for a kid, because regardless of what anyone says it is not all the parents fault, I could card less what kind of parent he is. It has nothing at all to do with the Eagles.

Everyone analyzing his parenting skills seems a little to infactuated with what is Andy Reid. I don't think I remember this happening to Dungy. And if it means anything, it had nothing to do with his skills as a coach, because he is now finally in the Superbowl.

Good people does not equal good parent.

We'd like to believe that the two are synonymous, but they aren't.

I don't think anyone's questioning whether Reid is a good person or not. I'm just saying that the evidence points to him being a terrible parent.

100% Dead farging right on.  This has nothing to do with football - I've been accused more than once of being a Reid apologist, but this is all on him and his wife.  Not for what they did now, or in the last 5 years...but for what they did/didn't do over the last 20.

Here are the types of things that result in good people raising bad kids:

Being overly permissive: Well, we told you if you did this we'd punish you, but really it wasn't that bad, and it is the big dance tonight...OK, you can go.  Being over permissive is the easiest way for a overwhelmed parent to "control" an out of control situation.  You can bet your ass that Andy wasn't 50-50 on the parenting, I'm guessing it was all on Tammy except for the "wait until your father gets home, he'll deal with you".

Being overly restrictive: Yes, finding a balance between the two is very difficult.  I'm guessing Andy's kids had a bit of both - especially with the pressures that being in such a restrictive religion and being in a high profile family present.  It is as important to give your kids freedom as it is to set reasonable limits and enforce them consistently.  It is very easy to blow this though, if you have the good cop/bad cop situation I describe above: mom is over permissive and dad is over restrictive...

Invalidating kids feelings: No, you don't feel that way.  This is the way you feel, because you are a good kid, and because that's the way we want you to feel.  Denial comes very easy in a very conservative household.

Only paying attention when your kids are misbehaving: Is anyone shocked that this shtein went down when Andy & Mrs. Andy were on vacation?  I know this is the #1 thing I'm having trouble with, and I'm paying the price for it.

Yes, the kids are 21+ now, but Andy shaped the way they saw the world and the way they treat other people.  They are shteinbags now because Andy raised them to be shteinbags.

If you are going to have kids, get some education - parenting is a much tougher job than whatever it is you are getting paid for, yet most people treat parenting like it is something that they can figure out as they go along.

I love it, everyone is a farging psychologist. ::)

It would be my wife that studied behavioral psychology, but thanks for playing.

But that doesn't matter - just read some books.  They all say the same thing, but you'd be surprised how few people are willing to doubt their abilities enough to try to educate themselves.

Christ - just watch some of these stupid nanny reality shows.  Same message.

I still say none of this would have happened if he ran a more balanced offensive attack.  It's a veritable cure-all.

Diomedes

I still say none of it would have happened if he had kept little Andy inside the mormundies.

You've been tucking "Mormundies" away for just the right time, haven't you?

Its a small % obviously and I don'y believe this to be the case with these two. But some people are just pieces of shtein. From the time they are kids until they're locked up in jail or dead, they were pieces of shtein. Good parenting or not, they turned out to be garbage.

My cousin for example is garbage. My aunt was great to him and his sister. He's a goddamn bum and a thief.

I have examples of that in my family, too. Some people are just evil. It does no good to point fingers and wring hands about why some idiot kid turned in to a slimyball idiot adult.
