Paraphrased excerpt from a recent telephone conversation:

Girl: Blah, blah, blah, smoking is so bad for you. How can you smoke? You should quit.

Me: Hey, guess what! I just quit smoking!

Girl: Really?! I'm so proud!

Me: No, no, no - you misunderstood. I meant I just put a cigarette out.

Girl: I don't think we should see each other anymore.

I got a "personal ash tray" for my birthday from Marlboro.  I finally decided it was time to get off their mailing list, just shy of 3 years from the last time I bought a pack of cigarettes.

If anyone wants the ash tray, it's actually kind of cool.  Pay me $5 for shipping, and it's yours.

I don't smoke but I defer you to Bill Hick's "Smokers and Non-Smokers" bit.  It's farging great.

"If my smoking bothers you I suggest you go outside and take a look at the world we're living in and SHUTTING THE farg UP!"

I'll give you $3.50

The padded envelope I'd send it in was $1, and the shipping will be $4 through USPS.com.  So no.  $5 or it's grabbage.

I already threw it in the trash last night, and the trash got taken today, so I guess I'm "hoping" too.

Joking? About the ashtray, yes. About the hilarious phone call, no.

Missoura still allows you to smoke inside, and they don't have fire safe cigarettes. I'm moving

QuoteMan on oxygen dies after lighting a cigarette
Posted by Carol Robinson -- Birmingham News January 12, 2009 3:05 PM

A Birmingham man died today after he lit a cigarette while wearing his oxygen mask and tank.

Danny Glenn McLemore, 55, of Second Court North, was pronounced dead at 10:58 a.m. on the front steps of his apartment. Authorities said it appears he ran outside when he started to feel the pain from the burning and collapsed.

An acquaintance told police McLemore had twice done this before. Both times, the acquaintance was able to pull off the oxygen mask before McLemore was seriously injured.

Investigators said the tubing and mask removed from McLemore were burned.

Authorities said unfortunately it's fairly common.

"We've had houses catch on fire or blow up because of that," said Birmingham Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief C.W. Mardis. "It's strictly a no-no, but a lot of people just don't heed the rules.

"They think it won't happen, but unfortunately this is a perfect example that it can and will happen.

It would be more appropriate for the Good Riddance thread.
