I agree with that.  They balance the offense when he's out and have success...but when he's in there, it's like the one man show.

no because because andy cant draft or because you think mcnabb is going to win a superbowl?

Well, both actually.  If the Eagles run the ball effectively and shore up the defense, they're one of the favorites in the NFC with McNabb playing QB.

Without him, they're nothing more than an 8-8 team regardless of what they do.

im not talking about ifs....im saying right now with everything you know would you do it

btw the defense is at least two or three years or a new GM away from being shored up

the eagles showed this year that in the nfc you can go much better than 8-8 with almost any qb

Honestly I can't wait to hear what McNabb has to say.  He'll be speaking during the Super Bowl week.  Andy can't muzzle him there.

No.  I wouldn't trade him.

Re: the defense. . . who says it's gonna take 2-3 years?  I don't think things are as horrendous there as you do.  They have big time problems that need to be addressed but it's fixable to the point where they could be competitive with some new blood.  They won't be the 2000 Ravens, but then again, they won't have to be.

Right - with any QB you can be 8-8.  With a perennial pro-bowler like McNabb, you could be much, much more.  He's the best quarterback in the conference, IGY.  You don't toss them aside like so much garbage just because someone has a #2 pick dangling.

well you have next year with mccoy/gocong and the same d line...so that puts us into 2008 two years from now...doubtful (but possible) in one offseason (09) offseason they are going to overhaul the defense to make it championship caliber...so now we are most likely three years out....

#1 you wouldnt be tossing him aside like garbage...youd be getting the #2 overall pick

#2 im not even saying id do it...im half playing devils advocate and half not sure if id do it...its a valid hypothetical tho

it actually isn't a terrible hypothetical...especially if you are saying you could take an impact player at #2 that would allow you to compete for a championship with Garcia as your starter while they groomed another QB

i wouldn't do it, but it's something to consider
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

SD_Eagle5

I would do it for 3 #1s including this years. Sounds ridiculous until you factor in Millen's on the other end.

Sgt PSN

Trade McNabb to the Sixers for their 1st round picks.  Make Oden a linebacker.  Super. Bowl.

Cerevant

I'd do it they would give up more than just their #2 overall.  Maybe a 1st, 2nd and a player.  I'm thinking a team transforming trade, like when Dallas traded Herschel Walker to the Vikings.

I agree with those who say that if play calling was done for McNabb the way it was done for Garcia, this would be a much better team.  I just don't think it is going to happen.

Wow, I forgot how stupid that trade was:
QuoteIn 1989, at the height of his NFL career, the Cowboys traded his rights to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a total of five players (LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, DE Alex Stewart) and six draft picks (which led to Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson).

That trade makes Ditka look like a genius.  Think Millen could one-up those two?
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Sgt PSN

Yeah, the Cowboys basically traded Walker for 3 Super Bowls.

Diomedes

I'd trade McNabb for one super bowl.
